For those doing BLW, when did you find your baby was ready to have breakfast (in addition to lunch and supper)? At the moment, it's impossible to have time for breakfast as my daughter is a slow eater when it comes to her bottles and only has about a 2-hour window when she gets up before she wants a nap. So getting her and ourselves up and ready in the morning, making sure she gets her milk feed, starting breakfast for us (but often not eating it!) is all we have time for before she needs a sleep, so impossible at the moment to squeeze in breakfast and she'd be too grumpy for it by the time we tried. She's fine on two meals at day at the moment and I don't feel she wants or needs breakfast, but just wondering when I should expect she might start needing it? When did your LO start having breakfast?

I used to offer brekkie after his morning nap. He used to nap around 8.45, 9. Lo is a bit of a cat napper so would have breakfast about half 9, quarter to 10. His naps have changed slightly now and I offer an hour after he finishes his morning bottle. He usually has porridge or banana on toast. It's a hit or a miss at the mo. Still tweaking the timing. Not helped that he's teething just now so eatings been a bit off. Maybe have porridge fingers made or offer a piece of fruit to start. Just a wee nibble to introduce solids in the morn? I feel like I spend all day either offering a bottle, solids or putting him down for a nap!!!

Oh and we started to offer brekkie quite quickly, maybe a couple of weeks after starting. It was lunch that lo took a while to get into. I used to offer and initially he wasn't fussed. Took us a while before 3 meals were getting eaten, and even now some meals are eaten better than others. Sometimes he's too tired / distracted / still too full from bottle / too hungry.....you get the picture!!

We went to 3 meals almost straight away - after a week or so as he was kicking off if we were eating and he wasn't! If she isn't trying to steal your breakfast then I wouldn't bother yet.

Thanks! A few mornings she has tried to grab my toast and I gave it to her (after licking off as much of the marmalade as I could!). But usually I don't necessarily get to even eat breakfast or do it while running around the house getting things done (while she plays on the floor). Maybe I'll give it a few more weeks and then see what happens!

I've just started offering breakfast at 11.5 months. His morning nap has shifted now from 1.5-2 hours to 3-4 hours so we have more time. Before, he was breastfed as soon as he woke up from overnight, and breastfed right before his nap. He still does that but has food in between.

We started straight away. If he awake for a meal he ate with us. Me and my OH eat breakfast at different times anyway so he normally got to eat with one of us.

I started with lunch then added breakfast. I did it this way cuz she was suffering gas issues at night. So I will do dinner later once her body adjusts. Breakfast is usually fruit as its what I eat and or yoghurt and fruit. I should get some oatmeal and do that and fruit for a change. My little goes down 1.5-1.45 hrs after she wakes so its rushed for sure. She wakes, 15 mins later boob, then 30 mins after boob I offer food. I don't know if this is right???? No idea what I'm doing. But if she didn't get boob first she would freak.

I started breakfast around 7.5 months. I don't offer her a whole lot because she prefers table food over breast milk all of a sudden and her feeds have decreased. I found a super easy recipe on pinterest for breakfast mini muffins. It's made from bisquick (pancake mix), water, greek yogurt, and then whatever fruit you want to put in it. I used blueberries, which she loves, however I will NEVER use them again because they stain her clothes. Will choose apples/pears/peaches, something with less color next time. But she loves them! And it's no work for me because one recipe makes a whole pan of mini muffins which lasts forever. I froze a bunch of them so they wouldn't go bad. She sits in her highchair and chows down while I do whatever it is that needs done in the kitchen.

You're doing fine. Boob first for sure, milk is more important for her growth and development right now than table food.
