Borderline Smear Tests

It's my first month back at ttc and I have been feeling positive about it even though I'm nervous.

Then I got 'the letter' this weekend back from my GP stating that I have a borderline smear test result and that I will need to have another taken in 6 months time.

I've had borderline results before but they have gone back to normal on their own. I DO NOT under any circumstances want to put trying for my much wanted baby anymore - I feel I have waited long enough.

Should I just carry on ttc regardless as I know they won't normally take do cervical screening on pregnant women?

A month after I started trying to conceive I got my smear test results back, and like you I was told I had borderline smear results and was told to be retested again in 6 months. I was gutted as like you I didnt want to stop trying for a baby. I asked my nurse about it and she told me to keep trying, that I shouldnt stop trying due to my results being borderline. If I got pregnant I would just have the test after the baby is born. A month later I found out I was pregnant! So I will have to take the test a couple of months after I have had my baby. It does worry me a bit but I have been reassured that most bordeline results will return to normal anyway. So i'd say, keep trying, especially as if they did find anything, you may need treatment, which could then delay your attempts to conceive. Don't worry and good luck! x

I was told by my Fertility specialist that they dont do smears on pregnant women because of the changes in hormones and different discharge etc (sorry tmi) basically any unusual cells show up for our smears in general so while we are pregnant there are too many different going on down there not to mention how fragile our cervix is!! so no they wont do one if ur preggo sweetie.
That being said hun im totally like you i wont put off ttc by 6 months because of my smear results (which i am waiting on at the minute) If they do come back abnormal im still gonna start ttc because ive been waiting long enough LOL!! Its totally up to urself hun Good luck tho chick n fx u get ur BFP very soon & those results are nothing at all to worry about x x x x
