Hey everyone. My son was born at 35 weeks and 6 days, and he came out with a bruise on the back of his head and his head is mis-shapen. It seems he has a metopic ridge also. Does this look normal to you guys for a preemie baby? We are somewhat concerned. Any comments would greatly be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice, but I wanted to congratulate you on the birth of your baby. Have his Doctor's said anything about his head shape?

I think his head looks fine. You could ask the nurse who is looking after him what she thinks.

He is beautiful. Congratulations xx

Connor didn't have a misshapen head at birth but did develop a flat head on one side which was quite obvious. It righted itself with no intervention at all.

Congrats on the birth of your baby boy xx

Some babies, born term or preterm, can have misshapen heads. They even out after a bit generally. Dont worry! X x x

Hi my son was born at 33 wks. He wasnt born with a flat head but not long after birth he developed a flat head on his left side and realy noticable even now and he is 3 yrs.
If you are concerend ask the nurse looking after him what she thinks.

The doctors said he might have to have surgery on his head for the metopic ridge

He looks beautiful to me. Congratulations. I don't have any advice, sorry but I hope he's ok. x

congrats! To be perfectly honest, looking at the photos I'm not sure what exactly you mean by misshapen - it looks normal to me.. Which part of his head are you worried about? I'll attach a couple of pics of my DS's head when he was little to see if that helps relieve your worries or not! I think his head was quite normal.. it is now at any rate and he is 18 m.o.
