Bottle feeding q

I havn't made up my mind whether i want to breast or bottle feed yet, but i just have a question.

For those who bottlefeed. What do you do of a night? Can you make up the bottles before hand for the night, or do you have to get up each time and make the bottle?

x

I make a few in advance so they are ready for night time. Some people make them up as they go along but i think most people make a few at a time

iv been told both but as far as i believe you can make up bottles previous to needing them as long as they arent around too long. once you have warmed up a bottle, you have to use it within 45 mins or u have to get rid of it then. speak with your mid wife to be sure tho hun. xx

Sorry. another question.

ive never made a bottle in my life, so what exactly do you do. If i was to get up in the morning and make up bottles to last me for the day. Would i sterilise the bottles, boil water, pour however much water into the bottles then leave them, and just grab a bottle and add the powder when it needs to be used?

Do you have to keep them in the fridge? Only because i have a friend who has a 4 month old and whenever i go to hers, her bottles are on the side with however much water in, then she just adds powder when she needs to and feeds her baby cold.

what we do is sterilise 6 bottles at night ready for the next day. we fill them up with boiled water so their fine for the next 24hours. we then add the formula when she wants it and just heat the bottle, in the bottle warmer or in a jug of water x

this is just what we do :)

we keep the bottles of cooled boiled water in the sterilised bottles on the side and then add formula and heat as needed

it sounds more confusing than it is, you get into a routine x

There are several ways to do it

Some people use ready made formula, sterilise the bottles, add milk then store them

Some people add the water to the bottles and keep them in the fridge, heat then add formula as needed

Others keep all of the water in one jug/pot then make up the bottles as needed.

If you get the drift lol

I make up fresh feeds. I put all the bottles in a cold water sterliser which stays sterile for 24hrs, and take out the bottles as and when I need them.
I put cooled boiled water in a thermos flask for night feeds and make them up fresh (don't even need to leave my bed) and cool it down in a jug of cold water.
In the day I do pretty much the same, topping up the thermos if it cools down too much. It only takes me a couple of minutes to make the bottles.

I do it a different way still polo  I sterilize bottles, boil water, let it cool for a few minutes, add the powder, shake, and store them in the fridge. Do 24 hours worth at a time

I used to make up Mollies bottles all in 1 go, with Taylor i was told that to make them up as u need them.

This 1 is gonna be on Boobie juice and if i change to bottle i will be makin them up as i go but if i go out i have a milk dispenser which u put ur powdered milk into then add to the bottles that u have packed.

For nite feeds, take a flask of boiled water to bed with you and make the feed up in bed and have a jug of cold water to ahnd to cool them down.No fumbling in a cold dark kitchen with ur eyes half shut.

Laura, is there no Mummy to be classes for 1st timers in your area that you can attend that will help show you the practical side of all things baby related, i did 1 when i was pregnant with Mollie, it was invaluable.

I steralize all bottles for the next 24hrs at night and put the required amount of fresh boiled water in them.
I add milk powder as and when required. (I have milk powder containers for when I'm out)

I keep bottles in the fridge till he's due another and take it out to warm to room temp.

Everyone has different ways and the reccomendations on how to do it change so often too. x

:dohh: I forgot first question.
I take a bottle and a container through to the bedroom on a night. Dont have to get out of bed and it'll be room temp when he wakes. x

We cheat and use ready made formula! We have to use a cold water sterilser for Niamhs feeding equipment, i hate the smell, but its great cause you can leave things in for 24 hours and get them out when needed.

I make them up before i go to bed, let them go cold then keep them in the fridge.
Then when he is hungry i go and heat his bottle.
He only wakes once a night now though :)

EDIT: Just read your other question.
I fill the bottle with the boiling water, let it cool then add the scoops of powder. I let them go cold then keep them in the fridge.
I dont give Karl his bottles cold, he jsut spits it out.
