OH and I are having a debate about how much formula Phoebe is taking. She has 7oz water with 7 scoops of formula but when you mix it all together it makes 8oz. How much is she having 7oz or 8oz??

I think 7oz but OH thinks 8oz!

This has always bugged me and i always foget to as the HV...its 7 oz you're making up so it has to be 7oz youre giving...i think its the formula that bulks up the amount when you add it to the water. I now look at how much is left to decide how much LO has had but its all so confusing... LOL

xxx

we have been wondering this too hehe

7 oz

Hubby and I had the same debate

I would go by the amount of milk you are putting in over anything else so it'd be 7 :)

Look at it this way....an oz is a measurement of weight and you added 7 so its 7oz - the volume that the 7oz becomes is irrelevent. Its always puzzled me too so I just go by how many scoops of formula I add and not worry too much about the final amount when its made up.

I would go with 7 oz, only because I like to side with the girlies against the men!!! :)

i would say 7oz - i would go by the amount of water that's there first of all x

Me and OH have always agreed it 7oz then again i don't think he's actually looked at the bottles coz its normally me who makes them up

I had this debate with my mother lol. I'd say your making up a 7oz bottle so thats what it is, just looks more when you add the powder.

Thanks everyone, I have shown OH all the responses and he still wont beleive me lol.

If you are putting 7 scoops and 7 water your making a 7oz bottle, if you put 7 scoops and 8 water its still 7oz of nutrition. if you put 7 of each and its goes to the 8 oz line its still 7oz lol its the powder that decides the nutrition your baby is getting imo
