we dont know what we are having yet but have loads of boy names we like. Trying to come up with a girl name. My nan was called Leonora and we quite like the idea of using it as a first name but we would nickname her Leo. What do you think of Leo for a girl? I suppose we could shorten it to nora but i dont like that so much.

I like it! I quite like girls names which can be shortened to sound boyish. I like the name Larissa, which I think could be Larry for short. My OH's fave name for a girl (which I will only consider for a middle name) is Storm. When I mentioned this at work one of my colleagues said his 9 year old son has a Storm in his class at school but it's a boy not a girl!

i worry that people just wont like it. Storm sounds more of a girls name to me than a boys name. i like it for a middle name probably wouldn't choose it for a first name though.

i really like it !!

you could shorten it to Lee as well?

Yes i was thinking you could shorten it to Lee x

i like lee aswell. I just think Leonora is quite an olf fashioned name thats why we wanted to think of a nice nickname.

Well i love using boy names for girls: Ryan, Reese, Rylie, Logan, Cori, Charlie, Markie, Joei, Dani, etc.... But i really just can't picture Leo on a little girl. I would prefer Nora as a nn, personally.

Leonora is LOVELY! I think Leo works on a girl (though I myself would prefer Nora). You could call her Leah as well (Lay-ah) or Leonie (Lay-oh-knee)?

thanks for your thoughts ladies. i quite like leah as a shortened name but unfortunately already a leah close to the family. the more of you that say you like nora the more its growing on me. Cant wait to find out what LO is. We're both convinced its a boy so this probably wont be a problem anyway. finding out on the 1st march.

Yep i like Leo for a girl. I like boys names for a girl (my daughter is Cori (changed from the boys spelling Corey to make it a bit more girly).
