Ok so OH and I had chosen the name of our son. One name has always been in the running since before we met as we both liked it - Loki.

We had decided on:

Benjamin Loki

but now OH wants it to be Loki Benjamin. I know Benjamin is a bit normal and I love the unusualness of Loki but I dont want him to be picked on or have to explain all the time that... no we dont have any scandinavian connections we just like the name. So I don't know what to do, which do you think?

Benjamin Loki

or

Loki Benjamin

I love the name Loki -- i'm a big fan of Kevin Smith & love the movie DOGMA.

Loki Benjamin sounds great!

I had considered this name for my very playful & bold puppy -- since in mythology the god Loki was mischievous

I love the film Dogma too, did you watch it last night on E4?

I love both names, i guess cos we deicded a while ago it would be Benjamin Loki I got used to it and can even hear myself and my parents calling him that. I ask hubby the other day if Benjamin was a bit too normal for us and suggested switching it round so its probably my own fault that he wants Loki Benjamin now. I am getting more used to it as the days go on... I told hubby to give me some time to mull it over as we have a fair number of weeks left anyways.

and of course seeing Matt Damon being called Loki helps :)

Benjamin is a gorgeous name but it won't be long before it gets shortened to Ben and then I think it loses a lot of it's niceness.

Loki is a brilliant name and I really like it! I think the thing about Children getting teased is really blown out of proportion. I know a 9 year old called Cairo who's never had any problems and my friends kid was at school with a Jericho and no one battered an eyelid. Kids are more likely to get teased for having a funny surname with the word "bottom" in it but parents rarely consider changing their surname.

I like the name both ways round :flower:. Maybe you should wait til you see him to decide which he suits best . xx

I prefer Benjamin Loki .. Although Loki is a very cool name xx

Love Loki. My son is called Justice and he is 6 and is in year one and was in two different nurseries before that and not one child has ever said anything about his name at all, children are much more tolerant than adults lol

xx

Loki is a great name. I actually named my female Akita Loki because I loved it so much (I know it is really a boys name).

Go for something different, Loki is lovely.
