Hi guys, I was wondering if someone who have done their breast augmentation surgery recently could share their experience via this thread.
What is this procedure all about? What will be the estimated downtime of recovery? I'm thinking of getting my breast augmentation done prior my birthday in Lakeview cosmetic surgery clinic in Barrie. I would be very thankful if you guys share your experience with me.

I had my breast augmentation in October of 2012. Are you having a lift, implants, or implants and a lift? I had implants placed under the muscle, 420CC saline each, yes very large. I was not even a 32A before my procedure and I have a very small frame (29” around chest). My procedure brought me up to a 32DDD, it sounds massive but it really is not (my profile picture is after I had the surgery). Know that even though the surgeon may be really good the shape of your chest will determine the end result. For example, I have just a tiny outward protruding area just below my collar bone and this causes my breasts to turn ever so slightly outward. Seeing as my chest is so narrow I had to go with high profile implants to get the larger 420CC implants because the regular round ones would fall under my armpits. I did not hear many good things about the high profile implants but the surgeon assured me he could make them look natural, and he did a decent job of that. Mine are placed a little lower and have a bit of a teardrop shape. They are saline like I mentioned above but I promise you they feel very soft under the muscle.
The procedure and recovery: I have a very high pain tolerance and yet a very low tolerance for pain medication. I am not able to take anything stronger than Vicodin because it makes me very ill. I read everything about the recovery time and thought I would handle it with ease. I went to my appointment and they brought me back to the operating room and marked me up with a pen then I laid down and they put me under (the procedure is really quick). I woke up and was allowed to leave and go to my hotel. You will be bandaged up really tightly. I was unable to eat and very sick from the anesthesia. That had not worn off yet so I wasn’t in too much pain yet, just nauseous. The next morning I went in to my appointment and he took off all the bandages except for the tape that sat over the incisions under each breast. I was in some pain now and they helped me into a bra and a band that fits over the top of the breasts that you will wear for a few weeks to months (depends on what the dr. says). After that I was sent home. The pain that set in was horrible, I felt like I had been hit by a car no joke. I was unable to sit up, stand up, or go to the bathroom on my own for the first 4 days. You will sleep on your back, sitting up. I suggest a lot of pillows to keep you from falling over and a heating pad under your butt because it will hurt. At night I would be in so much pain that my husband would have to sit me up. Again I was only on Vicodin, I doubt the pain will be that bad on the meds that they actually prescribe. After a week I was back at work but I was still hurting when I would sweep or mop. The nerves on the sides of your breast will be healing over the next few months so you will likely get lightning like pain in that area on and off. Also the area will bruise and swell and your implants will be oval (taller than wide) and reallllllyyyy high up on your chest making them look really ugly for a couple of weeks. After that you can remove the tape left over on the incision. I opted for the areola incision but they screwed up and put the incisions under my breasts. I was furious until they told me that I would most likely have numbness in the area of the incision permanently to some degree. Well they were right, the area that they actually used is still slightly numb. The scars are finally fading away and I am left with a little white line hidden under the fold. The high profile implants are so big that I developed mono boob (only when I push them together to make cleavage) which is where the sternocleidomuscle detaches from your sternum. Now at night I am in a bit of pain unless I sleep with a pillow separating the two implants. All in all they are great haha but they take some getting used to!! I doubt my case was the norm for most girls. I hope that everything goes well and you love your augmentation!! :flower:

Also, the down time may be longer with a lift and/or reduction. If you are getting implants and are still wanting more kids you should know that the breast itself can sag off the implant and create a "double boob" after having a baby. This is not always the case though. But if it does happen you will need a lift to fix it.
