I'm a mother who breast-feed/ formula feed my baby.

I noticed when I change my baby's nappy after a feeding of breast milk, her poo is a small/medium amount.

I want to know, when your baby poo after he/she is drinking your breast milk, is the poo full in their nappy.

I'm trying to figure out the more I eat, will I see more poo.

I just notice this morning. Normally, I would breast-feed and then formula feed after to supplement because my baby is still hungry.

This morning I didn't do that I breast-fed only and then later changed my baby's nappy and found very little.

Could this be the reason why my baby is still hungry after a breast feeding with the quote I stated above. "the more I eat"

Please Help..

It's very common for BF babies to go days without pooping. If the baby is having 6-8 wet diapers a day she's getting enough to eat.

So, if she doesn't poo she's still getting the nutrients as needed.

I had this misconception that I had to eat before I feed, but then I realize if I didn't eat I still have a lot of milk to offer.

ffion could go a week without pooping at all!

dont worry, its normal

No, you don't have to eat before you feed. You need to eat about 1800 calories through out the day, but it doesn't turn into milk right away.

Oh, Ok

Sometimes, I feel I would have to put in some food before I feed her. I would give her the formula instead.

I was thinking she's not getting the nutrients if I didn't eat.

I've been doing well though. I realize all this dripping is her food and it's not waiting for me to put in some food. lol

Thanks,

The reason that there's less poo (usually) with BF babies is because the milk is tailored exactly to what they need therefore there's less waste that needs pooed out.

I wouldn't worry much about a breastfed baby and poopy diapers. they can go up to 7 days without having a poo because their bodies can use ALLOT of the nutrients in the mothers breast milk so they don't get much waste from it. I'm one of the lucky ones and was able to tell when a certain day of the week had arrived because Damien would only poop once a week and I got so scared because I thought something was wrong. Called a 24 hour health line that we have here and they told me this. It saves allot on diapers I can tell you that *LOL*

My little girl is 10 weeks now and completely breastfed. She has had the sniffles for the past 2 days but still eating well. She hasn't had a BM in 2 days. She's using every nutrient available to her right now. It's nice to get a little break in changing poopy diapers :P

Now why do "they" never list that on the incentives to breast feeding?!

I'm a long time supporter of breast feeding anyway and have no intention of bottle feeding, but this is excellent news. Especially as we'll also be using real nappies, not disposables, less poo to dispose of before washing them is great news!

How often to breast fed babies wee though?

You should be changing at least 6-8 wet diapers a day. Keep in mind, some babies always poop. Bella poops AT LEAST 2-3 times a day!
