Breast feeding and expressing

Is anyone else BF and expressing? I want to get some in the freezer for later, so hubby can feed Oliver if need be. How much do you express in one go? I only seem to be able to get out 1-2oz per boob. But I have seen that people feed their LO 3-6oz. Should I be able to express this amount in one go?
Wasn't sure if I am doing it wrong, or perhaps it's that I'm using a hand pump? I've heard that leccy ones are more efficient.
Any advice girls??

i use a hand one but dont pump often due to bubs not taking a bottle.

i manage to pumparound 6oz in one go but i think i have a very big supply .

i dont know much about expessing hope someone else can help u x x

I have electric and I still only get 2 oz max at a time. Takes me a couple of days to harvest a full feed!!!! x

I had to express the other day when my nipple cracked, and could only manage 1-2 oz. I'm wanting to do the same with expressing so hubby can feed her, but mw advised to wait 3wks until my supply was properly estsablished

I usually get 4oz each time, and thats expressing from both breats. Try expressing 1-2 hours after a feed.

For me, when I started pumping I only got a few ounces but now can get about 5 oz from both breasts, so it does get better I think. Mornings are definitely the best time for me to pump, I am pretty low at night.

For the last couple of mornings I've managed 2 full ounzes, so I think things are starting to improve!!! I'll perservere and see how things go. Still unsure about forking out for an electric pump though.

Kat - I got mine off ebay second hand. Like new Medela Mini pump for £15 plus pnp - bargain and well worth it. Alio was selling one on here recently - dunno if she got rid of it??

I forked out the dough for an electric one - and it was worth it for me since I have to pump when I go back to work, and won't have the time to do it manually. I am up to about 6 oz from full breasts which isn't bad. Trying to feed her from the bottle during the day and from me at night, and it seems to be working!!

Wow Lucy that is great!! I am impressed with myself this morning I got 7 oz and my breasts weren't even full!! Yay for getting my supply up so she'll have plenty of milk when I go back to work
