So I woke up this morning in so much pain, I thought I was going to faint. My breasts were so hard and full. Clearly my breasts were engorged. Here's the thing I pump only because I have a preemie, a 24 weeker who is now 32 weeks. I dont usually pump at night, because I go to bed at like 12pm and wake up at 7pm.

This morning not only did my breasts hurt though, my back did (upper), my arms..sort of the feeling before you get sick. Yet I know I am not sick, because I had this happen once before (the sore breasts..the sore body) and I never got sick.

I have pumped and pumped, and I think I have emptied my breast..except for it seems like there is milk ducts not unclogging on the underneath of my left breast. And it HURTS! I have tried everything.

I looked at my breasts in the mirror as well, and where it hurts its very red and swollen.

Any ideas? Should I be worried?

The doctor is gone till monday...

I am in so much pain!!!

Thanks.

Merry Christmas

I have no idea hun as I am new to this, but I didn't want to read and run. :hugs: I have sore lumps under each breast after expressing but they are only a bit uncomfortable rather than what you describe.

Hope you get some advice soon :hugs:

Could be mastitis starting or some blocked ducts. Try massaging the lumpy area and maybe some warm flannels on them until you can see your Dr - I think you should make an appt ASAP though. x

I agree with Mervs Mum that it might be mastitis, especially if they are red and still painful when they're empty. It's important to get treatment as soon as you can - is there somewhere you can go today? Hope it gets better for you soon :hugs: x

Try putting savoy cabbage leaves in your bra if you have any. It works, honestly! Otherwise try the warm flanel/bath thing, shoul help. Hope you feel better soon xx

Also, when my LO was in SCBU I was told to still try and express every 3 to 4 hours throughout the night so that I did not get engorged and also becasue your milk production is at its highest between 2am and 5am (or thereabouts). I know it's also very important to get your sleep when you have a premature baby to look after but if might help it stop happening if you maybe get up once in the night. Maybe just every other night if you can't face every night?! Not that i am telling you what to do, just don't want you to have to suffer this again while your LO is in hospital :hugs:

Hun, it sound slike mastitis to me - I think you should see someone asap, as if it gets any worse, then you'll know what pain is!!! Go to a local walk in centre, or even a&e if your doctor can't do a call out. Hope you feel better soon hun x x

I got told to use cabage when i was struggling to feed, but i felt like you're saying was awful just flu like. Went away after a day though :hugs:
