Is it normal to have a breast preference? Lo latches on so easily and will feed so easily from my left breast but when it comes to the right we have such a hard time getting a good latch and maintaining that good latch. It has resulted in one very sore nipple and me wanting to avoid feeding on that side (I know I can't). Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

i think its quite normal for baby to prefer one side. I would try different positions to see if that helps.

Yes, it is a fairly common problem. My LO certainly preferred lefty over righty in the beginning. For us it was a myriad of different issues. First off, my right nipple was inverted. Secondly my right breast is an over producer and we had over active left down which resulted in a drowning baby. We ended up using a nipple shield for the first three weeks until one day my LO decided we didn't need it any more. The shield helped pull the nipple out and regulate my supply a bit. As I type LO has fallen asleep nursing on the right side. But I can well recall the anxiety I used to have when I knew we had to switch sides.

My daughter still prefers my right over my left. I still offer it though and it's the boob I pump from. That's helped even out my lopsidedness
