Does anyone have any pros cons or advice on the -medela pump in style advanced? I found one used but in great condition for $70. I know it's a little early but trying to get ahead of the game :) (I also have no idea what to look for or what should come with them. The picture below is the one for sale.)

That's the one I have and I absolutely love it!!! Those accessories look good! People say don't buy used because there's a chance of spreading stuff. BUT I have looked into it and there's never been a documented case of any disease spread through a breast pump. Clean the diaphragm of the machine (video of how to on You tube) and then buy new tubing! it will be good!

After looking at the picture more closely it looks like there may even be a lansinoh latch assist included (AWESOME) I didn't get one until much later in pregnancy but it would have come in very handy when starting off because it draws out the nipple for lo to latch on to the best it can. Those are awesome and totally invaluable! (In my opinion)

Awesome thank you!! I was seriously looking at the picture and had no clue what I was looking at or for lol Sadly there was one person in front of me as far as buying so I may not get it :/ Good to know it's a good brand though! I figure I'll have mom run it through her dishwasher several times (if they can) and then do any other sterilizing process and It should be good! Glad to know there's a video on youtube for cleaning the other part :) Thank you!

Really cleaning it with alcohol and hot soapy water should do the trick!!! :) But if you want to run the parts through a dishwasher by all means. Just don't put the pump in there !! I hope you get it that's a great deal!!

lol! I won't! :haha: I hope I can too! Just one more thing out of the way :) What a blessing it would be if the major things were out of the way by end of 2nd Tri! :D

definitely!!!! :) I love having all the big stuff done by the beginning of 3rd. Makes things go so much smoother in the end!!!!

Your insurance should pay for a brand new one BTW! Call your insurance before you spend the $$....

Insurance is required to give you one now, call and check with them before you spend the money. But that is a good deal that you found.

Not all insurances do. Some are grandfathered in and some government provided insurance some how get away with not providing one  And some provide different models! But it's definitely worth checking in to.. And for what it's worth, my last insurance provided an ameda purely yours and this pregnancy my insurance provided a medela pump in style advanced. Although both times it was strictly the pump no extra parts, no bag, no bottles. I could buy all that stuff through my insurance provider but it was like $125 I think. So I ordered the pump and bought a used medela with all the pieces (bag, cooler, ice pack) for super cheap and just put the new pump in the old bag. Problem solved!!! :)

Well and someone gave me the advice to "get everything done" in 2nd Tri because it's when you feel best :) My only major consistent symptom has been terrible fatigue though, I compare it to drinking Nyquil every 6 hours lol I'm hoping it lightens up soon!

Sadly our main provider wouldn't even cover the pregnancy because we won't go to the doctor an hour away that treats their patients like cattle. So we have Medicaid for the pregnancy but apparently they don't provide this.

Bummer about the insurance! Then that is a great deal!! and you can also register for supplies too if you're going to have a shower.
