I have a question regarding breast pumps. I am exclusively pumping and I am currently using Medela pump in style. It takes me a long time to get emptied, flow is very slow and I hardly get 3-4 oz per session after 40 minutes of pumping. I pump 5 times a day and I get about 20 oz total per day, I supplemrny the rest with formula. Left boob produces most of it, right boob is lazy and I have to squeeze the whole time while pumping to get it to let out an oz.
Anyways, question is will hospital grade pump be more efficient at removing milk; can those of you who have tried both comment? I don't want to waste money renting it of it will make no difference. I feel like I am constantly hooked to the pump and dont get to spend time with baby.

I've got an Ameda Lactaline dual pump and it's amazing. Never fails to encourage letdown. I would highly recommend it!

Ive been exclusively pumping for 9 months and switching from Pump in Style to hospital Symphony did make a difference for me. The Symphony was more effective and more comfortable. You could always try it for a week or two and see if you notice a difference.

I second the symphony. My lo is 2weeks and spent the first week in NICU, so I've been pumping since she was born as she's still learning to nurse. My ins doesn't pay for an electric pump, so I'm borrowing a medela Latina from WIC. In the hospital I was using the symphony. It is WAY more comfortable to use, and I was getting on average 2-3 more oz per pumping session. I'm actually going to see if WIC have a symphony I can use. The Latina gets the job done, but it's harder on the nipples.

I just changed the membranes on my medela PIS and it made a lot of difference. I am not turning the flow all the way up and it flows much faster. I also only pumped 20 min last night as opposed to 35.
Thanks for helping, I'll try the symphony to see how that goes.

I have an ardo electric pump and couldn't recommend it more. When I was in the hospital I used an ardo and thought it was good so bought the same for at home. Really impressed with ardo as a whole company. Xxxx
