Need opinions on what kind of breast pumps you would recommend. Looking for an electric one.

Thanks :)

I had a post about this in another section, didnt get many answers but a few people said the medela swing pump was good.

From what i've been told depends what you want it for... like buy the medela electric breast pump if you are going to BF and use it occasionally. But if you just want to express or are going to use it more often then get the medela swing pump. However (ha ha) if you are going to be just expressing then there is the Medela Pump in Style® Advanced Breast Pump...

Hope that helps, i obv have no experience here but its what i've been told :)

Thank you. Seems I better get my act together and get one within the week or so.

I had a manual one (Aventi) with my daughter and it did squat for me. Not willing to pay out money for something that doesn't work this time around. :)

As others have said- depends on what you want it for. I have a Medela Advanced dual electric as I work full time and need something that pumps well and quickly- it's expensive but SO worth it!!!!! But if you are only wanting to pump for the occasional time away, you may not want to spend that much. I also had a little hand-held Medela manual/battery for times I needed to pump in the car and it did okay- I never was able to pump as much with it as my big one, but it did what I needed it to. I do have to recommend Medela as a company though. Since I stopped bfing my son 2 years ago, I somehow managed to break a part of my pump. I just now pulled it out to discover this and I called Medela- they sent me a replacement part, completely free (no shipping even), and it got here in 3 days.

i have the same one as Ragirl. i really like it. i got the backpack deal it comes in a nice black backpack where it stores in the bottom and you can put other stuff in the bag, so if you need to go out with it with you its easy. it also came with a cooler and ice pack and four milk storage bottles, 4 breast pads to try out, freezer bags to store milk in,and the parts that go with the pump.
i can express about 3 ounces in 20 min with it and its a double to you can do both boobies at the same time. it has a switch that starts off slow and then you turn it up to the speed that you feel comfortable at. i have never used another one but i really like this one, i bought it coz i will be needing to pump a lot when i go back to school in the mornings and didnt want to spend hours with a manual pump. medela also sell microwavable sterilizing bags that you just put all the equipment in and microwave for a few minutes and its sterilized. hope this helped!

This time around, I plan to do things differently regarding breastfeeding. I plan on doing it for a few months and in that period of time I also want my little guy to be used to the bottle so that hubby can feed him too, giving me a break. And also getting him weaned to the bottle so much quicker than my other two.

With two kids in school and the businesses, I just can't sit all day.

Decided to go with this one and see how it goes. :)

Good choice leeanne. I have the Medela swing and it is frikken awesome... A little pricey, but well worth it!! It works just as good, if not better than the ones in the hospital.

You cannot go wrong with Medela.Even hospitals use them. Medela Swing is what I use and Medela Pump in Style is also highly recommended. Pricey, yes but the work very well and will last a long time.
