breastfed babies result in better behaved children?

Ok, I'm gonna go out on a limb and actually defend the person who said the 'breastfeeders are more likely to be better parents' thing. It's totally the wrong way to phrase it but if you look at it this way, a parent who neglects their child, goes out a lot, doesn't have any time for them etc is incredibly unlikely to breastfeed as breastfeeding is an option which forces you to spend time with your child. It's a question of consequence, they should of said 'bad parents are less likely to breastfeed' rather than the other way around. It changes the meaning of it entirely.
I agree with this though and think it might impact on this study hugely and make it a lot less accurate.
I hope I haven't offended and everyone can understand what I'm trying to say x

I agree Kriskitten, I haven't finished reading the thread yet haha but that's what I was thinking.

Have you seen some of the other studies mentioned on the BBC today? Apparently the length of your fingers indicates whether you're more likely to get diseases of the nervous system or not, another says gay people are more likely to get cancer and another says that children that live near nuclear power stations are no more likely to get leukemia than any other child. So basically if you are BF'ed or FF'ed and live near a power station you probably won't get leukemia but if you are FF your behaviour might be worse but then again even if you are BF'ed if your fingers are the wrong length you might wind up with MS and if you're gay as well, well then you're screwed completely!
So, yet again another example for why you really shouldn't worry too much about random scientific trials!!!!

Jeez this thread is long! Was only 11 pages when I clicked on it but then I got busy and had a nap & by the time I got to read it was 29 pages.

Anyways, I had lots of good things to say but they were all related to posts 10-15 pages back. So just going to add

- minkymoo, you are scandalous ;)
- i have the longest, skinniest fingers any of you have ever seen
- I expressed for 4 months (was hoping to do at least 6 months but my medication that supposedly didn't effect milk supply actually did)

100% agree with that. It is totally different when you switch the words around like that and it actually makes sense.

I haven't read the replies on this but will paste in what I said on a friend's FB link to this story -

"I think it could be true but for the wrong reasons. Nothing to do with the "make-up" of breastmilk or the act of BF... but more to do with the fact that I doubt you'd get a neglectful mother who stuck it out with breastfeeding. Of course I'm not saying that those that bottle feed are going to be bad or neglectful mothers (I FF from 3 weeks so this is not an attack on FF mums)... just that those mothers that have it in them to be neglectful, less nuturing and bad mothers would most likely have bottlefed. If some of the most caring and nuturing mothers out there with the best of intentions can't manage to keep at breastfeeding then I just think anyone that isn't 100% commited totheir child wouldn't even try to. And it'll be that lack of care/nurture that is likely to have an impact. Not all behaviour problems stem from neglect or a lack of care however xx"

Still giggling to myself about the underwear debate... before kid, I matched mine meticulously... after kid and during BF I wore big granny undies as I had a c-section and a nursing bra... and now I still wear my nursing bras because they're more comfy  But I've gone back to my nice underwear on the bottom. OH must think I look a real sight! I'll have to ask him when he gets home now!

I FF and ive never matched underwear, im actually quite curious as to how i even bagged a bloke and maNaged to have a baby!!!

VIVA LA BRIDGET JONES'!!!

Oh, you ladies are downright scandalous! You should all be ashamed of yourselves! *marches off to pick matching sexy lingerie *

Hahaha, I need to give up the nursing bras, I'm wearing them in the hopes I'll magically grow boobs big enough again to fit properly... but no such luck. I went from a C cup while BF back to an A cup... well and truly time to go back to the old bras I think!

i second what lellow says, even at my most confident party going stage i barely managed to coordinate similar colour knickers and bra!

and i used to wear thongs/g-strings, now, i tried wearing it again recently and i had to take them off!! very comfy pants for me please!

oh god, in terms of bras...

I disagree with things and g-strings....They need to be irradicated from the face of the earth!!!

Theres just no need...

Wooohooo.....Knicker burning....:happydance:

Yeah thongs are crap- lets all blame Sisqo for his stupid Thong Song lol. But they are necessary for light material as visible panty lines are worse IMO. Boy was I glad when my DH said he prefers french-cut knickers lol

I love a nice thong. But I also love French knickers. I have no idea why you're talking underwear as I've only read the last page but thought I'd give my valuable input. Men in thongs tho- that's a definite no no!! That's just plain ridiculous.

I too am a fan of French Knickers Clara
Thongs are  As is Sisqo!!!

How about Borat style underwear/swimwear type thing.....SHEXY!!!

Love you girls:

Ooh I hate g-strings. I really can't see how they could possibly be comfortable. My best friend wears them all the time and swears you get used to them... my question is... why would you want to? They stick up your bum ffs lol.
