Hi, i was wondering if any new mums have been successful with Late breastfeeding? after bottle feeding? Since Luciana was Born on 14th may, weve had some problems with her feeding, she was on formula but struggling to keep her taking the 60mls. i made the decision not to breastfeed due to trying over my first daughter and not doing very well. i only managed it for 7 days and she did better on formula. i really wanted to breastfeed this time and felt i left it a bit late, my m/w yesterday said there was no harm trying but it was unlikely she would accept the breast now...well i tried her this morning and she latched on immediately and seems very happy taking my milk..i am praying this continues and i dont have any problems as really want to give her the best i can.

Has anyone had any experiences of breast after bottle :)

PERSONALLY I DONT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE OF THIS BUT I THINK THERE ARE SOME OTHER MUMS WHO CAN HELP. IF YOU GO TO https://www.babyandbump.com/breastf...-info-get-your-own-personal-bnb-champion.html YOU SHOULD FIND A MUMMY WHO CAN HELP YOU. :) WELL DONE FOR GETTING LO TO LATCH ON THOUGH, KEEP AT IT! XXX

Ps. Sorry all in caps lol!! Duno what happened there!!

LOL. thanks , will check out the information :) seems L.O has taken to it immediately and feel very blessed, shes been feeding each time i have put her on the breast :) finding another mummy to help me sounds a great idea thanks! may seem very easy atm but would love someone there who can help and advise if we do encounter any problems:) thanks again!

You can definately do it!! If she's latching just keep putting her on. If you just do it as and when then there is no pressure. Maybe the MW isnt trained in BFing - many only have the basics - so it might be a good idea to see if there are any support groups locally. They often have BF counsellors or consultants attached to them who can guide you on this.

It's doable!! It just depends what you want to achieve. To get back to exclusively BFing will take a great deal of commitment and it probably wont be easy but the sense of achievment you will feel and the rewards will be fabulous.
There are still many benefits to you both emotionally and physically even if you dont want to get to EBFing - you can just enjoy that special time maybe in the morning and last thing at night - it's up to you and the sky's the limit!! :D

Little update..Luciana is still latching on well and feeding, i am breastfeeding her about 4 feeds each day when were both comfortable and relaxed and she has top ups of formula with the bottle. DH feeds her at 3am with formula and a take her to the breast at 6am, she seems very content with this. tho have support of DH,he does prefer to make her up formula feeds typical lol. shes definitely more happy on the breast so i am aiming feed her myself as often as i can. i have thought of expressing with a breast pump and giving her a bottle and slowly reducing the formula..shes a very windy baby, m/w advised infacol, which shes having . i am concerned being breast and formula fed is causing her to be more uncomfortable? also have noticed my loss has increased since breastfeeding...is this normal? i see my m/w on tues so i will ask her for advice then.
feel so commited to breastfeeding L.O :) thanks for all the great advice :) i will look into finding a local breast feeding support group as my next step.

Well done!!! :D

Your loss increasing is normal - your uterus contracts more when BFing so you'll see more coming away at a time.
