Just found this ..... Its only been since 2007 !!!

However I dont think it was illegal.... but restaurants etc had the right to ask you to stop!! Now they face a fine if they ask a mother to stop!!

found this one to claire.... thought it may have been an interest for you

shocking story though!!

hanks for that kerry u really got me thinking xx

I heard about a mum who was feeding on a chair in mothercare and was asked by someone if she would move into the baby change room

Doesn't the law only apply to babies under 6 months at the moment? I thought there was a petition to get it changed? Although it's not illegal, I've heard so many stories about people getting disapproving looks and comments from members of the public.

this is what im concerned about i dont think its "illegal" but I do think its still not socially accepted as it should be!!

thats shocking about mothercare!!

I think your right about 6 months as well!

I think it's terrible how intolerant people are. That's why I just about dare people to say something to me if I'm bfing in public- make my day because I have the law behind me and will make you look very, very bad. When United Airlines (I think it was United, defo one of the big ones) had told a woman she could not bf on a flight they had a nurse-in at our airport (as well as many others). I was soooo mad because my son had just weaned himself and I would have had a BLAST participating in one of those:rofl: It would have been worth taking the day off work for!

My friend worked in mcdonalds and some guy complained because there was a woman breastfeeding he said she should go to the toilet and do it! ...I'f somone said that to me i'd ask them if they'd eat there dinner on the loo coz theres no chance my boy is!

It really is under educated. I do feel like I get some horrible looks the very few times Ive done it in public.

I was out the other day and I asked a lady if there was somewhere I could take Seth to feed him and she said that there was a baby changing area around the corner. I told her that I couldn't feed him in there because it was a disabled toilet.. she said 'why not?'

HELLO?! Its a toilet. Would you take your sandwich and eat it in the toilet? No? Thought not.

I dont feel comfortable breastfeeding in public and I would feel a lot happier if places provided seperate areas to feed in. After all, everywhere seems to have gone out of their way to accomodate smokers...

xxx

I think thats terrible that a person would complain about somebody breastfeeding. Have people got nothing better to complain about!! x

Most place's iv been theres normaly a chair in the baby changing room so i suppose you could always sit there and feed if you felt uncomftable, i normaly sit in a corner if im in a pub or restraunt, mothercare in our town has a brilliant baby feeding room and Debenhams baby changing room has sofas in, but i have fed Charlie in the middle of town once or twice i didnt seem to get any funny looks if anything i had smiles from older women! i think because breastfeeding isnt as common anymore i feel like a really good mum when ppl smile at me with my baby on my boobie!

I don't feed in public much anyway but I've got a cover-up thing for when I do, so I'd be so mad if anyone said anything! It's not as if they can see anything even without baby being covered! But Sam does get distracted so easily and would be trying to look around at everything, and I'd probably end up squirting milk all over the place...not really the natural, relaxed look I'd be going for
