Hey,

I haven't been here in a looong time! My LO is 18 months old and breastfed. I'm STILL waiting for AF!! I had a brief period when she was 6 months but nothing since. For the last 4 months or so, I've definitely been feeling my body is trying to ovulate. Like, I've had copious EWCM, ovulation pains Etc. But then no period follows. What gives? Toddler can still nurse quite a bit, especially at night, but I'm back at work and would have thought the break would have kick started my body..? I'm taking maca as I've heard that can help but any other ideas? I'm partly wondering if it's psychological as I had a traumatic birth and perhaps my body is telling me I need more time to heal, emotionally, before I consider another baby.

Anybody else breastfeeding a toddler and still no AF??

TIA!

It is fairly normal, but also doesn't mean you can't get pregnant. I know loads of people who got pregnant when breastfeeding a toddler and had no AF to indicate fertility.

Thanks! I never thought I'd want my AF back!

Omg this worries me as we want to TTC #2 in a few months but I still haven't got af back either!!!

DD2 turned 2 last friday, she's still nursing (need to update that ticket :haha:) and still no AF!! Although have to say I'm super happy about it as I'm now a single mom and sadly don't see myself having another baby anytime soon :(

Hi I just wanted to add that I am still nursing a 21 month old and hadn't yet had a period (since before conceiving her in August 2013). I did go on the mini pill briefly so had no chance whilst on that either but on coming off that 1st January I have managed to conceive still without a period :) Best of luck to you Hun x

Your period is more likely to come back if you reduce night nursing. Mine returned at 12 mths pp and he cut down on night nursing around 8 months.
He is still nursing today so it did not discourage him at all :)

I think it's very normal since you're still nursing a lot in the night. Once I stopped nursing at night (or way less), my AF returned about two months later. For those two months it kept feeling like my body was trying to ovulate but then failing, so I think that's normal too while your body is adjusting.

I have a 14month old, i dont nurse at night anymore but do nurse or express in the day still and my AF hasnt come back yet. I'm not on anything

Ha, I must have jinxed myself because I finally got AF back this Friday at 11 month pp! Here's to beginning ttc#2 after lo turns 1
