The government are proposing to protect the rights of mothers to breastfeed
in public and make it an offence to interfere with that right.
However the right is only effective until the baby is 6 months old.
WHO say that mothers should breastfeed for the first 2 years as a minimum.
There are concerns in some quarters that the new legislation might result in
mothers being prosecuted for indecency if they breast feed older children in
public.
