Breastfeeding Photo's

Im too ashamed to post a photo since my baby is 6 weeks old and still using a nipple shield. The photos here are so beautiful and everyones doing it right. Not using some lame piece of plastic. I could almost cry looking at these pics, wishing it would work like that for us :(

I'm sure it will some day :flow:Just be proud of yourselves for getting to six weeks at all! So many people give up before then, nursing your baby with a nipple shield is just as beautiful as nursing without :hugs:

I feel like its not even really breastfeeding. Its like cheating. I feel like I always have to explain myself when someone asks me if Im breastfeeding.

Aww hun breastfeeding is breastfeeding REGARDLESS!! Please post pics, bc the thread is called breastfeeding photo's and that's exactly what you're doing! I bet it is JUST as beautiful :hugs: I think it would be cool to see EBM mommies showing off too!

You should post your pic and stand proud. Like the pp said, so many ladies give up before six weeks.

You're feeding your baby your milk. It's awesome and something to be extremely proud of, nipple shield or no nipple shield x

You should definitely post a pic. Ive not had to use a nipple shield myself but have read they are hard to stick with so firstly you should feel tremendously proud of yourself for getting to 6wks and secondly all the stories ive read of women who use them end up directly feeding from the breast at some point. Ask your health visitor for advice or a number to call for breastfeeding support, im sure youll be able to bin the shields soon. Meanwhile your photo would encourage others using shields to post here too :hugs:

Post a photo, I saw once someonw did post a photo and proudly wrote breastfeeding with a nipple shield. Having to use one is hard work specially at night and when out,so I think you should be proud thar your doing eberything that is on your hands to give your LO the best. I'm sure with the right help of a LC you will be off the shields xx

First time sharing, feel amazing to do so after all we have gone through(having to supplement at night for the first 3 weeks, to exclusively pump, and having to use nipple shields)

Definitely still breastfeeding - it's still your breast that feeds her, just with a shield in between :) It's not at all cheating, just assisted if anything. And like others have said, it's actually harder to nurse with nipple shields [in certain situations] than without, so the fact that you're still so determined to feed her yourself, even with them, is still a beautiful and courageous decision.

You don't need to explain yourself to anyone, maybe just say that you're breastfeeding and then if they ask how it's going, mention that you still need nipple shields - they won't think any less of you!

I understand! I used a nipple shield for the first 7 weeks! I had been offering bare breast every feeding since birth. Then all of a sudden, he took it. And didn't need the shield after that. Keep with it, and it will get better. And I felt the same way!! You are giving your baby the best and never feel bad about it!

Finally eating without the shield. Took 2 months!

Here's my girl smiling as she is done eating. I have to take a pic of her latching because she gets this evil little look on her face and grabs my breast like she is saying "this is my boobie!" haha, its so cute.

I have been using a nipple shield and will try and wean her soon. she has latched without it at the lactation consultant appointment but we both agreed she needed a bit more time. we will get there, im not worried. :) its still breast feeding and she is still getting the benefit of breast milk shield or no shield! Im still proud!
