Violet hardly nurses anymore. I think it has more to do with my pregnancy than it does with natural progression of weaning. I should get a picture before she quits altogether. Who knows if she'll tandem nurse or not when the baby is born.

After a devastating few weeks of almost total breast refusal, desperate dreamfeeding and many, many tears, which almost cost us our nursing relationship, my little girl is finally comfortable breastfeeding again. So I just wanted to share this with you guys - I took this photo a few days ago, after our first feed for at least a month during which she fell asleep, having actually started WHILE AWAKE. :happydance:

I'd been sneaking milk into her as she slept for weeks as she wouldn't go near me as long as she was conscious.

In the end, cranial osteopathy held the answer. My baby had a fairly difficult birth, but the injuries she sustained didn't become apparent until she gained head control and muscle tone. She's two treatments in and everything is so much better.

Feeling good. I had a complete flop breastfeeding my son (tongue tied etc, just an awful experience due to nurses who said his tie would "be ok" :growlmad:) and it didnt work out at all for us. And now, I am over 3 weeks in with my little girl (also tongue tied but immediately removed) and doing great. :flower: I don't know how long I will BF for but happy to have "managed it" this time

We've been struggling with breastfeeding since I went back to work at 6 weeks and he preferred expressed milk in the bottle. My supply was dropping. I quit my job on Friday, so I'm trying to wean him off the bottle. Its going well, not perfect. I have to start him off lying down, sleepy, and get him actively sucki g the pacifier before I deftly remove it and shove my nipple in quickly. Otherwise he will refuse to latch or bite with his 2 ridiculously sharp teeth. He's 5.5 months now, 99.99999% breastfed.

Lovely pictures ladies, so happy for those of you that have overcome obstacles to breastfeeding!

I didn't know going into it how long I'd be nursing. The first week or two was HORRIBLE! Just from being inexperienced, i had some bad latches that caused my nipples to be raw so then it was painful. Also I was just soooo tired and with her nursing for 1-1.5 hours at a time by the time she was done it was almost time to start again!! Which I know is the case with most women. Also my milk came in late from the c section and that was frustrating since my LO started loosing too much weight in the hospital. So happy I didn't quit, she is now about to be 11 months and still nurses all the time. I love my relationship with her and she will probably be nursing for a long time still.

Love this photo my family photographer took of us :cloud9:

This a picture my husband took when we were in the hospital. My baby had to spend a few days in the nursery, but I was still determined to breastfeed that I went in every three hours to feed him.

It's one of my favorite pictures of the two of us. I wish it wasn't so weird to share with other people, or I would show everyone.

And then there is this one. He gets so intense when it comes to nursing, his little hand makes the tightest little fist ever. He wont relax until he's done nursing for food.

Aw congrats and good for you! It takes a lot of determination to stick with it at the beginning :flower:

I completely agree, my pic of me nursing her is my favorite of the two of us and would totally make it my Facebook profile pic, but I'm sure that would be seen as weird.

It was 11 months of BF yesterday for me! So happy to still be nursing her all the time and hope to continue for a good deal longer! :flower:

Thank you, it really isn't easy in the beginning, and having to do it in the hospital for almost 4 days while he was hooked up to all kinds of wires didn't make it easier.

I would love to go a year or more, but I'm aiming for 6 months first. Congrats on making it to 11 months!

I can't believe I finally get to post here! It was s nightmare with my first daughter and she never would really latch without nipple shields. This experience has been night and day different! She latched on almost immediately after birth and I did skin to skin pretty immediately as opposed to not holding my first daughter until 45 mins after she was born. Here we are at 2.5 weeks in!

This was a few days ago. He's almost 39months now. He only asks about every 4-5 days now so soon he will have self weaned. Longest I fed one of the others was 23 months so wasn't expecting this but it has been a wonderful experience for us both. Lovely pics ladies :)
