Is anyone else pregnant in their first tri and still breastfeeding? How do you get past the hormones and aversions??

DD is not ready to wean, and up until today, I wasn't either, but every time I think about her latching or biting or pulling my hair while at the breast, I feel like I could vomit from anxiety and aversion. Does this feeling go away? I could use some honest encouragement. ;)

Thanks for your thoughts - xx

Sadly it didn't go away for me, it only got worse. I had to stop nursing Thomas when he was 19.5 months and I think I was about 22 weeks along with Sophie but don't recall exactly.

I had aversion all the way through my pregnancy. It was horrible and I used to have to try and distract myself when she was feeding because I knew it wasn't her fault but I just couldn't stand it and really wanted her to just unlatch. The good news was that the aversion went away when I had given birth. I'm now tandem feeding and it is going well. Good luck :)

You guys are so strong! I'm only 6.5 weeks and all I can think is "how does anyone do this?!" I swear she latches with her teeth!! I guess we will see how it all goes... Nice to hear experiences from both sides, though. So thanks!! :hugs:

I honestly felt revolution as though a crusty old homeless man was having sex with me, I wanted to scream and throw Thomas away from.me every time. It was awful because I also felt guilty about it, he was still so little, he was a late talker and wasn't talking yet.

I had the same sensation in the second trimester! I felt so molested!:cry:

For me the first trimester was what brought on the sore nipples around 12 weeks. We were able to keep the pain at bay by fixing his latch a little. I basically taught him how to open wide again ^^. Then around 20 weeks the nursing aversion started and I had to keep the sessions short and reduce to once or twice a day. The aversion went away around 27 weeks when I began making more milk again. And now at almost 31 the soreness is also reducing by a lot and we are enjoying it again. I am glad I got through it. It certainly was rough at times but I was set on Tandem nursing cause I really did not want my toddler to be jealous and hope it will help them bond (I grew up forever jealous of my sister being the same age as my son is now because I was suddenly forced to grow up :( )

I breastfed my first until I was 14.5 weeks pregnant when I just couldn't continue because of the aversion. I had sore nipples, my supply dropped to nothing and he started biting me instead of latching, so combined with absolutely feeling my skin crawl when he fed, we just had to stop. He was 2 years and 2.5 months. Hats off to anyone who nurses through an entire pregnancy.
