I've posted this on the preemie forum too, but has anyone tried The Brewer diet in subsequent pregnancies? I've read quite a lot now from mums of multiple micro-preemies due to pre-e or HELLP who've gone on to have a termie by following the diet, but the advice about salt is so contrary to what I'm used to it makes me nervous.

I have never tried it. But wanted to say I had HELLP in my first pregnancy and not in my second, and I never did anything differently

I was put on it this pregnancy by the midwife because I delivered a month early last pregnancy. She has seen many women in her practice who have had preterm baby's ( some more then once) that followed it and got to term .

Thanks for posting Dream.dream. Are you following it strictly? It's the advice on salt I find quite hard to get on board with.

I am attempting the Brewers diet, although not strictly. I am mostly trying to eat as much healthy protein as I can, coupled with lots of fruits veggies and water. I think the advice about salt is sound. There is a huge difference between eating processed food that is high in sodium and salting your food to taste. In my last pregnancy I was eating fast food, hamburger helper, microwave meals...yuck. When you look at the packaging your are getting more than your daily dose of sodium in one meal, that adds up throughout the day to be an incredible amount of salt. When you cook healthy food at home and salt to taste you are getting much less sodium. The RDV is about a teaspoon. Which is plenty! Remember we need some salt. Good luck :winkwink:

I'm trying but right how I have such ba morning sickness nothing is staying down. Once I feel better I'm going to. I'm determined to get to full term this time

I do have any salt restrictions in mine? There are different variations I think?

The advice I've always been given for salt and high-bp is to avoid it completely, but brewer advises salt to taste all food, and I struggle with the idea of using it when it's so different to everything I've ever been told.

I'm not sure . I will have I ask my midwife . But having it with mate one meal a day I can't see it being a too terrible if its just a pinch.

I'm having trouble filling it just becaus the amount of food it way more then I would not all eat in the day. And with the morning sickness constantly its been rough
