Brilliant...Just Brilliant!! Grrrr!!! *Update page two Spoke to Doc

So after all the period and pill shinnanigans i have rung this morning to book an appt with my GP as i thought bollocks (excuse me french!) i'm just gonna go and see my doctor and she can help me and sort the problem and confusion once an for all...

So i ring up reception and no answer. this is a 9 am so i ring back a 9.06am and i get "thankyou for calling Rolle medical, the lines are currently busy so please hold....blah blah!!" im like brilliant!!! so i hold for 5 then as im at work today i think i cant wait on me work fone too long so hang up... several tries late and same thing is happening. so i get on with work and have my lunch and come back to office and ring this afternoon...

Receptionist: Hello Rolle medical how can i help?

Me: Hi i was wandering if i could book an appt with my doc, Dr (??) and if not an appt with another doc for this week, well asap...

Recept. : Ok well i have one for thursday afternoon, but may i ask what it's regarding?

Me: Erm (bewildered as to why) My pill and my periods?

Recept.: Ah right, well seeing as its not an emergency appt i haven't go anything, i can get her to give you a fone consultation.

Me: You just said Thur afternoon?

Recept: yes but i thought you were after an emergency appt. sorry.

Me: What!! Well Cant i have it anyway?

Recept : no sorry.

Me: Well wat about another doc this week?

Recept: No i have nothing sorry but can get GP to do your phone consultation

So i book one of the phone things for weds but i dont see how thats very fair. me being a person who VERY VERY rarely goes to docs and even when im very ill i dont bother cos i hate the place, but the one time i need em they dont even off a later appt in a weeks time. there is NO appt available and instead of being checked over as i'd like (and feel better for) i gotta make do with a shitty fone call which im sure wont be of any help??

I just cant believe it really is that difficult to see my own Doc.

Sorry for the rant but im just really ****** off!! I was hoping to put my mind at ease and see a doc in person to release my fears and excitement on!! now instead i get anyold so and so ringing me up which i find impersonal and awkward cos i have no set time hour or range of when they'll call, who it will be and if ill be around to get the call. What if i miss it? then what!!

Yeah, I hate Drs. I would've said "It could be an emergency, I'm not sure. I'm late for my period and I've been experiencing pains in my side. I don't know if they're related, but I'm worried." It might be a half truth, but it'll get you in... :/

How rude that she'd tell you there was an appointment... I'm sure if it were an emergency they should be offering today/tomorrow appointments, not thursday??? That sounds quite bizarre to me. Surely an emergency should be seen within at least 24 hours?? Bizarre!!!

omg i cant beleive that!!! before now doctors have asked me what it regarding and ive said ummm personal reasons!! If asked again dont tell them what for hun!!

Yeah,thats rich of her! She's a receptionist,not a doctor,you shouldn't have to tell her your private reasons for seeing a doctor!

that is so weird, ive never been asked what its regarding, i ask for an appoiment they give me a time and a date,

they shouldnt of said wheather is important or not there a receptionist not a doctor, and it must be important to you otherwise you wonthave tryed to book an appoiment! :l

Nearly all doctors ask that I think but when the receptionist asks what its about you are not obliged to tell them.

You can say it's personal and I'd rather not talk about it. Well I do anyway, or I say it's an emergancy even if it isn't. And half the time when you go in there's noone in the waiting room

I still think it's weird an emergency appointment is classed as 3/4 days later.

But yeah, nosey cow had no right asking you what your appointment was for.

When I need an appointment it's always an emergency appointment Don't let them fob you off, just insist that you see a doctor! I have this problem at my surgery too. x

Oh my god!
That is totally out of order! The receptionist has absolutley no right asking you what your appointment is regarding! Thats just her being nosey, I would make a complaint if I were you! Doctors have to keep everything confidential by law so why on earth does that recipionist think she has a right to know!
Id be fuming if I were you!
Could you perhaps get someone to phone up on your behalf(so she doesnt recognise your voice) and book an appointment, and if she asks why again quite frankly tell her its personal and none of her business!

call back and say you need an emergancy appointment for today and refuse to tell the lady on the phone because its got nothing to do with her shes not a doctor.

with problems regarding the pill etc you can see a nurse instead, it might be easier to get in with a nurse and also they are generally women so easier to talk to about ladys things

Thanks for this UVlollypop!! I didn't realise that and it does sound very good! Wasnt on here yest'day as i was out of the office all day and didnt get chance to get one B&B but just tried to call Docs and here we go again.... no answer!

Im just so fed up! and i realise no i should of been more blunt with the silly cow... and yes i have just realised that thursday isn't even an emergency timescale!!! that seems ridiculous, what if it was in real danger and pain, thurs? i could have got serious damage byt then!!!

Grrr! Thanks for all you comments tho, still havent had this "phone consultation anyway" maybe im being impatient but im really fed up with having to wait to get some bloody answers!! thats all i want is a straight forward answer to all my queries from some one who knows!! xxx

bloody hell they're unbelieveable doctors!! i know someone who was stabbed by her OH a good few times, her wounds got infected after she got out of hospital and the receptionist at the docs wouldnt give her an appointment!! her mum rang up in the end and managed to get her one for the same day after threatening to report the receptionist as she was damn rude and she really really really needed to see a doctor!!

i wouldn't have told her what it was for, still think it's wierd that an emergency appointment i scheduled days later. the doctors are so busy doing nothing these days.

Yeah you don't need to tell her for future reference. In my GP if I need an emergency appointment for that day or the day after I usually have to talk to a nurse on the phone to tell her what the problem is and she has the authority to give me an appointment or not. I wouldn't take someone with no medical experience the right to decide what is and is not an emergency :\

It's just funny how she's asked me if its an emergency? I felt like saying " I don't bloody know if it's an emergency cos i don't know whats wrong HENCE why i was coming to you!!! "(Drs!) haha! Well Update.

Spoke to Doc on phone Weds night and she said i need to test again and sometimes periods on Ovranette just dont come and mess themselves up??

Im gonna go in a see her either way cos she said whichever way she'll check me over.

Did test BFN! again so hey ho it's not my month this month but i was gonna be surprised if it was cos that wud be far quicker than id thought!

Don't no now just gonna book appt. See whats up...xx
