So our luck just continues. My son was born at 35w weighing 1.6kg or 3lb 10oz. Feeding has been an ongoing struggle. He tracks a line below all other lines on the chart, so I've always been concerned with his weight gain.

He was hospitalised for bronchiolitis last Thursday. He's still in high dependancy unit and receiving a lot of breathing assistance. He has been on reduced feeds since Thursday.

He was 2.9kg a few days before the illness, which is 6lb 8. He will definitely have lost weight in this last week.

He feels like the perpetual, newborn. Will he ever grow up. He has health issues that are unknown. He is constantly being tested for things but nothing comes back as a diagnosis. He has irregular blood readings for certain things and there is no explanation.

I am just moaning. I don't know where else to moan. I'm on my own all week all day at the hospital. My husband comes for an hour or two after work.

I want my son to be well and to grow up an get bigger. He is under 6lbs at 10 weeks old which just seems wrong. He was a 35 seeker. He should be doing better than this. Surely?

I have no answers for you but wanted to come in and give you a big cyber hug. These things are sent to try us but you are strong and being there for your son is the most important thing. He is most probably small due to his health issues along with the feeding issue, and this set back will definitely not help - but that said, once he recovers from this, he can continue to build his strength up.
I have a friend who's baby is a week off 5 months and he only weighs 12lb (and he has no health issues other than reflux). Your baby may always be small. I pray that the doctors can find answers to his health issues and soon.

I know I'm not giving you any answers but hope that I'm just a shoulder you can lean on. You know where I am if you need to vent. Anytime hun, anytime xxxx

Thanks Hun. He tested neg for bronchiolitis. They are talking about meningitis now. He's also had Siadh during the illness which, looking on the web, is not good. I'm done in and beyond all communication now
