Brown stringy spotting 5 dpo. Any ideas?

I was wondering if any of you ladies could shed some light on my issue? I will try and be brief... Every cycle I get brown discharge 4-5 days prior to AF. It is rare, but I have had brown spotting a week prior to AF once or twice. However, I have been getting extremely light brown spotting that is stringy? Best way to describe it is like fibers lol. I first noticed it 3 days ago at 5 dpo when I felt wet down there. Went to bathroom to see a little of creamy brown discharge on my undies, but when I wiped it had these brown stringy things on the tp. Never went on my undies again, but still feel that wetness from time to time, but only a tad of light brown when wiped. Its been on and off too. Today I am 8 dpo, still very light brown spotting, no pink or red. Thing is, when this started, my period was 10 days away. Never had spotting this early! Also, I want to mention that on Friday, 3dpo, I had painful pinching on my left lower pelvic region, scared me but only lasted a couple hours on and off. I have been feeling sick and a little turned off by foods I would normally dig into. The night I had the brown spotting at 5dpo, I had mild cramping like my period was going to begin. No boob changes or soreness as I normally would have a week prior to af. Pre-af spotting always gets heavier as each day passes, disappears the day before, then full blown shows, so this is odd starting.

No idea what is goin on, but hope it is pregnancy. DH and I have been ttc for many years with no luck. I read up the possibility of ruptured cyst, but didnt really match up. Pregnancy seems more fitting, but cant find anyone having the stringy brown spotting at 5dpo. Took a test this am, bfn. Could still be too early.

So, what do you think? Implantation? Maybe I ovulated earlier than thought? Anyone have this and end up with a bfp?? Any help would be lovely!

Tiger, I too had the same thing for two years after coming off BFP. Sometimes for up to a week before AF. For me I am pretty sure it was low progesterone even though I had mine checked repeatedly and it was ok!

If this is different for you then I would saymitsna good sign! Implantation bleeding can come in different colors and consistency for everyone so that's a possibility.
