Brushing Teeth - How Successful Are You?

This is one of the three that I have tried with her, no luck :(

Lame, she won't even chew on it on her own? Elsie won't let me move it around in her mouth but if I just give it to her she'll chomp on it for a while and I figure that's better than nothing.

Some days im more successful than others but more often than not it results in a tantrum and meltdown. Ive tried making it into a game and pretending to put it in her mouth then pull it away and then saying "tickle teeth" but she doesn't get it, shes too young to understand, she just looks at me like "what are you doing you silly woman"! If she lets me do a quick scrub on her teeth its a win but generally its a tongue brush and a lot of crying!

We do it but its hard! He doesn't like it and ends up screaming. But its gotta be done!

My eldest son used to be terrible and I practically had to pin him down to do it! I'm sure the neighbours thought I was killing him! But it paid off as he now has BEAUTIFUL teeth and lets us brush them x

Micah chews the brush with a smear of toothpaste on and if I manage to actually brush them for 2 seconds then I consider it a success!

This thread has made me feel so much better in my attempts to commit my LO to dental hygiene .

I was thinking about posting the same thing! When Eli first got teeth he would let me brush his teeth no problem, but now its virtually impossible! And his back molars...forget about it!

I've tried a normal brush and a brush baby and am still not convinced her teeth are getting cleaned, same problems here...mouth clamped shut, arched back, hitting me, you name it! Last 2 nights we had some success with Daddy brushing while I danced stupidly/ sang / moved about enough to distract her and make her open wide to smile. Who knew tooth brushing was a two person job, lol.

As soon as she got teeth around 6 months I started trying to brush Evie's, it's usually the same - one second of bristle to teeth contact is a success in my book!! :D
I brush mine at the same time as hers every evening, give her her toothbrush with some paste and we do it together, most of the time she chews it, throws it, reaches for mine and I manage to get a few scrubs in while she enjoys dragging my toothbrush along the bathroom floor. Yum. I think it's the same for most people! x
