LO's ear has just burst again for the third time in three weeks. He hasn't actually been off antibiotics for more than 3 days during these three weeks :-(

I will take him to the doctor tomorrow but I am so worried it could lead to hearing loss etc, it's the same ear each time.

Any one been in the same situation? Will he have to be referred to an ear specialist? The doctors just seem to fob me off each time with antibiotics.

My LO has both ears infected right now, but it's his first infections so I don't have any info for you. Just wanted to say I hope he heals up and gets better soon! I can say that I had many many ear infections as a child (not sure about burst ear drums though) and I never had hearing loss.

I thought it was just ear infections at first but then the doctor confirmed it's a burst ear drum. Hope your LO gets better soon :(

My LO was absolutely fine until 5am this morning when he wouldn't stop screaming in pain and then as soon as it went he was fine again. But now he's really sleepy and cuddly :-(

Aww, did you give him some tylenol or something for the pain?

yep, I've been giving him calpol as often as he's allowed so hopefully I can get him an appt tomorrow

My son had this a lot too mostly in his right ear. He now has glue ear but it does often clear up by itself. I wouldn't be surprised if your lo were to get it but it is treatable. Keep goig to the doctor. The drum will heal it just needs time for the infection to get out of his system
