business ideas-do you follow them?

I have an idea and i have bought some bits to make up some samples. I was freelance for a while but have never run a business before. Would you follow an idea even if it was quite a new one? I saw my mum start up a number of so-called businesses and she never succeeded so i guess i don't want to make that mistake. Does anyone run a home business and have any tips? Im not looking to make a fortune or change the world, just make a little bit of pocket money and maybe have a bit of a life outside the house lol

The idea is making wedding and party favours and table settings.

I would do research, look for a gap in the market. Try to find a unique selling point my business has to offer. Then I would go for it.

All businesses had to start somewhere, so I'd say do it.
