So last week I posted about having a discharge that I suspected was unusual. I decided to make a doctors appointment and they just called me back and told me I have BV. They didn't act very worried but I am completely freaking out now:cry:...google strikes again! They are going to put me and hubby on a round of antibiotics for a week and they said that should clear it up.

Have any of you gone through this or know anyone who has? I just want this baby to be healthy and stay in there for as long as needed! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers!

BV is very common and very treatable.

I had it pre preg, its just a fanny hormone imbalance or something.

Don't worry!

I have bv. They put me on antibiotics but not my husband? But for me antibiotics usually don't work. And so far they haven't. For most women they get better and go full term. I hope they work for you i know google can scare the hell out of us pregnant women.

I had this recently and was given some pretty horrible antibiotics but its cleared up now. Had another swab taken today to check all is still ok.

But its not at all sexually transmitted so your hubby doesnt need meds, Its the bacteria that changes in the foofoo and he hasnt got a foofoo so it would be a waste of time.

Do not google! I did and scared myself to death so that i was scared to even take the medicine. x

Yeah, DONT GOOGLE!! lol.. I have had it!! And like Angel Dust said... the hubby really doesn't need antibiotics... but i am no dr. So whatever they tell you!! Yours should clear up and you should be fine!! Dont stress it too much. I freaked when I found out I had it... but then I found out how common it is!! So try not to stress!!

Thanks for the reassurance girls, it does make me feel a little better. I am not sure why the doctor is giving DH antibiotics as well, all they said was it is not a STD but it can be passed back and forth just like a yeast infection. I just hope it clears up and in the meantime I am off of wifely duties

For those of you that have had it did you also get a very watery discharge?

I had very watery discharge I thought it was my water for 3 weeks I would go in they would check and since it wasn't my water they would send me away. Finally they took a swab and found it was bv. i still feel like I'm wetting myself tho. Lol

Thanks again, that also makes me feel better. I hate that you are still having discharge though, hopefully that will clear up for you soon!

Don't worry, it's very treatable and you should be fine. I have had it before and the anti-biotics didn't work for me, the only thing that did was dipping a tampon in live bio yoghurt and inserting it every other day for an hour (this was pre pregnancy, I wouldn't advise putting a tampon up there whilst pregnant). You could use it topically though just arund the area and it should help.

I'm currently awaiting swab results for BV after recognising the symptoms from last time, but I have been using natural yoghurt and the symptoms have gone away now.

The reason it works is because you get a bacterial imbalance because the acidic 'lactobacillus' bacteria that lives naturally in the vagina is overtaken by the anaerobic 'alkali' bacteria in the vagina, which causes the nasty smell. In order to get rid of the infection, the anti-biotics kill off the anaerobic bacteria. But in natural yoghurt, 'lactobacillus' is found naturally, so by using it you are replenishing the good bacteria in the vagina.

Please don't worry, the anti-biotics should clear it up within a week and you'll be back to normal. xxx

Its very true that it can be passed from you to hubby and back again. My hubby and I were both treated for it as its sometimes a PH from hubby that mixes with yours and gives you the infection. Not to worry hun i've had it twice and with the meds it can clear right up! Try not to stress :hugs:

I have had this quite a few times and anti biotics never clear it up. I found an over the counter option because anti-biotics also make me terribly sick. The other the counter option neutralises your pum pum but you have to insert in your pum pum so would not do it when pregnant. You will be fine, maybe feel a bit iffy because of meds but thats it. I heard BV is not a problem during pregnancy but can cause problems during labour.
