I had my stitches out today, day 5, and my midwife said the incision site looks wonderful and clean. But I was wondering, at what point could the site still split or become infected now that the stitches are out?

My incision (no external stitched or staples, just dermabond) was fine until about 3 weeks postpartum, when it got a slight infection, just a small part at the end of the incision ...bleeding a little bit and a small amount of purulent drainage...they gave me an antibiotic and i had two followups to check it, and it did heal (i was putting triple antibiotic ointment on it and keeping it protected from my clothing with a small folded gauze square) finally around my 6 week visit and is completely healed now, though my abdomen is still tender , but my ob said that is normal

I got an infection 3 weeks after too, but I had disolvable stitches that didn't dissolve properly. I got the leftover bits removed a couple of days ago and it already looks and feels better.
