ladies if you plan on having a planned c section will you take maternity leave earlier or the day before you have your c-section

I'm having a c section at 38 weeks. I plan on finishing at 36 weeks so I can get things sorted.

Dont know my srction date yet, but might take off a week before

I found after my c-section that I really couldn't do much at all.
So I would take a week or two off before to prepare the house, make sure all the washing is up to date. Frozen meals in the freezer, pantry stacked with healthy easy snacks.
Set up a comfortable feeding station with a water bottle, healthy snack (almonds), entertainment (book, kindle, tv, magazine), burp rags, wet ones.

My csection should be around the 20th of August and I am starting mat leave August 9th

Csection is August 20 last day of workbis August 17.

How do you ladies have your dates already? I'm 20 weeks and my doctor has never brought up when it will be scheduled for. I figured they'd make that determination closer to when I'm due I guess.

Anyway, I don't plan on taking any time off before, as I'd like to save all my time for being home with the baby, but it's not a bad idea to take off at least a few days before to do like what others have said, clean up, meal prep, etc. I may think about that!

Most hospitals have a rule on when they do elective c-sections. Most hospitals like doing them at about 39 weeks, unless the patient has a medical reason for having them done earlier.
39 weeks gives baby enough time to grow while still being early enough that most women won't go into labour by themselves.

We lost our son due to a doctors error at 32 weeks.

I made a deal with my doctor if I was willing to do this all over again, I would not wait to deliver after 39 weeks....I am too afraid of the placenta having issues as I have heard in some of the support groups I went to. He agreed that would be fine, so I am hoping emotionally to make it to 39 weeks!
