How much do you ladies have a day? I've stuck to the 200mg since my 11 month old was conceived. I tend to have 2 cups of coffee bit recently I really feel like I need that 3rd cup in there:coffee:
My LO is 11 months old has 3 breastfeeds in 24hr peiod, one in the morning when she wakes for the day, one at night before bed and one around 5:30am and the rest of the time she has solids. Would upping my caffeine too 300mg have a big impact? Any other ladies who do have more caffeine?:flower:

I usually just drink decaf, or if we had a tough night I will make a pot that is half decaf and half regular so I can have a few more cups without having too much caffeine.

My understanding is that caffeine isn't harmful but may make some babies jittery and have difficulty sleeping. It's more of an issue in newborns, though. You could try an extra cup of coffee and see if it has any impact- if so, just cut it out again.

I haven't really limited my caffeine intake while breastfeeding although I'm mostly a tea drinker rather than coffee. I've never noticed any kind of issue. I do try to avoid it in the couple of hours before her bedtime feed, but even when I've forgotten, it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Here they don't give specific advice about the amount of caffeine to have if breastfeeding (that I've seen). The advice seems to before about avoiding excessive consumption. Elsewhere I've seen that up to 5 cups a day, or 500mg, is classified as OK, so there's a lot of regional variation in the advice given.

I have 1-2 cups of coffee and 2 sodas...it says while breastfeeding no more than 750mls of caffeine

I have two coffees a day I try not to have any more than that xx

Seems the recommendations vary depending on where you live! Thank you for the advice, I'll give it a try and monitor for irratibility and restlessness etc:flower:

The NHS guidelines (UK) are max 300 mg per day (the equivalent of 3 cups instant coffee). I tend to drink decaf so don't have much caffeine at all (though I will have some if no decaf available).

Many experts recommend that 300mg of caffeine is fine for nursing moms and don't cause any change in the baby's behavior.
