A colleague who i have just started working with has got a girl called cameron. I thought it was a boy she had and i had been talking to her today and put my foot in it.

I know a couple of girl Cameron's, I agree it works for both

If somebody was talking about a child named Cameron, I'd assume they had a little boy.

boy... ive only known 2 Camerons both girls but its clearly still a masculine name and really wierd on a girl

same with Rhys, Logan, James, Micah and Luca they are still clearly masculine even on a girl

I think its that name that proves knowing a child makes doesnt make you assosiate the name automatically as many people ive met who think 'male name' actually know female Camerons

I would assume boy as well but don't think it's weird for a girl. I think if you name your kid a unisex name you have to expect that people might get gender wrong in passing conversation.

I would automatically assume a boy but wouldn't be shocked if a girl had the name :)

Same. I would 1st assume boy, but would not be surprised to hear it on a girl bc I do know it's a unisex name. I'm sure she deals with ppl confusing the name on a regular basis, so I don't think you should be too concerned. I doubt she was offended.

My son has a boy's name that in recent years ppl started also giving to girl's. I come across ppl thinking he's a girl sometimes too when I say his name - which I find odd bc it is more often used for boys.

Don't like it for a girl personally.
Definitely a masculine name in my mind.

I would definitely think boy first.

Not a name I would use personally, as it reminds me too much of our prime minister, who frankly is a bit of an a.......cquired taste

:)

I would assume boy, but it doesn't bother me at all on a girl.

I think it is definitely a boy name only girl I've heard of with this name is Cameron Diaz. I personally think it's an odd name for a female like when people use Finlay for a girl, it's a boy name... X
