Can anyone explain bedsharing / night feeding to me?

I understand the concept, baby sleeps with you and feeds on demand whenever they like through the night. I noticed some mums saying they don't even know how often LO feeds. So I'm wondering about the mechanics of it all. Do you sleep naked? How old was LO when they could feed themselves? How does your OH feel about the bedsharing / night feeding?

My LO currently sleeps in a crib by my bed, and on the odd occasion he wakes for a feed, I'd be interested in bringing him to bed with me and letting him get on with it while I go to sleep.

Thanks!!! X

I have the bed for just me and LO. I still wear pj's and just lift my top up when she wants it. I don't have her super close tbh because she kicks now :haha: but before I used to snuggle her in. Not sure how old to help themselves as Mia just searches around with her eyes shut (which wakes to me up to offer boob). Definately been my saviour to bedshare. Just follow safe sleep guidelines :) x

He sleeps beside me (so it's OH | me | baby) and I just pull up my tank top and put him to the boob (or I sit up).

I have no idea how often he feeds, it has ranged from once per night to every hour at a growth spurt.

My first baby was in a crib & bottle fed - I was a zombie for over a year (he STTN at 23 months). With this one, I've never had a day of actual sleep deprivation. Having done this, I can't believe I wasted my time going to another room with #1! LOL!

This is awesome, thanks ladies! Yes currently I wake up to feed and then try and put him back to bed. He is close physically but it's still very disruptive. I love the sound of bed sharing!

Just the not getting out of bed makes a big difference! I know on nights where I have to get out of bed to pee, I am quite tired! But on a night I hold it in, I'm fine.

At the moment it's just me and my LO in bed, he wakes me up when he starts wriggling / searching / fussing - I cuddle him in, he feeds, I fall back asleep, he falls asleep, I wake up and roll away from him. I switch him to the other side and repeat the next time he wakes. I don't know how many times he does this in the night, but it was 2/3/4 times before I stopped counting. I just bought a babybay to try and transition him into his own space and bring my husband back not bed.

*Hi, new to this forum!*

I co-sleep with my DS (6.5 months) and have since he was 6 days old. He is EBF and it makes things so much easier! At around 3 months old, he stopped STTN and now usually wakes 3-4 times between 10pm-6am. (We don't always go to bed by 10...it's 2am now and we will likely be up for another hour) DH works nights, so we only share the bed with him for a while in the mornings since DS will usually sleep until around 10am...sometimes later :) I do plan to order an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper to kind of help start the transition to his own crib/room and also so DH has more room in the bed. I LOVE co-sleeping. Oh, I also sleep fully clothed and I'm a light sleeper so I wake up when DS does. DH would like for DS to be in his own room, but that's not going to happen for at least 5-6 more months.
