Hi!

I had a transvaginal scan at what would have been 5 weeks pregnant and all they could see was a nabothian cyst.

I was wondering what it was and if it could be mistaken for the sac?

I probably sound very stupid but im really unsure and would appreciate any help!! (I'm only 18!)

:hugs:

You dont sound stupid sweety. Im not sure what type of cyst that woud though? Typically at 5 weeks, its very hard to ANYTHING including a sac because you could be a few days behind what you thought... I wouldnt worry yet. Have they scheduled you another scan?
Congratulations by the way and welcome to b&b! Im Lisa, and Im 21. My daughter Emma is 3, and my son is 5 months

Hi Lisa!

Thanks for your reply, Im Char.

I have another scan scheduled for this saturday, but i would be a lot further along now.

I suppose I will have to wait and see!

I'm not sure at all sorry but good luck at your next scan :flower:

thank you so much everyone! means a lot as i havent told friends or family about this! xxx

i swore I answered you on this....hum maybe it didnt post

at 5 weeks most people dont see much of anything...

a for the type of cyst you have, ower girl parts wash themselves out with there own secretion that come from ducts, when these ducts get blocked around the cervix once blocked it forms a cyst.....
there really is no harm the doctor will keep an eye on it,. Its on ur cervix not your uterus.

hope that helps some

UPDATE:

Didnt want to leave everyone hanging! I had the scan- she was so rude and told me my scan was a 'waste of NHS money'!

Anyway she said my ovaries were covered in cysts :( but she said she couldnt see any baby :(

The woman was so rough with me, ive had lots of internal scans and this was the only one that hurt! A bad day all in all for me! Plus i only got a couple hours sleep last night i was worrying so much

Have you taken another pregnancy rest?? You need to! If it comes back positive again, you need bloods taken. It was positive for a reason... Cysts can't cause a positive test :(

:nope: I'm so sorry you had a bad experience, if you feel up to it be sure to make a complaint - she shouldn't of said that or treated you in such a bad way!

I agree with PP^ do another test :hugs:

I would be 16 weeks today if i was- surely you COULDNT miss that hahah. I think i will complain- i came out shocked by the way she treated me- it was almost like because im young i shouldnt be needing the scan and therefore a waste of money! :(

Well no, if you was 16 weeks there'd be no missing that but your pregnancy test came back positive in the first place for a reason and you need to figure out why :)

Defo not, big hugs to you :hugs: horrible woman shouldn't be in a job like that if shes gonna be so judgemental!

they actually can and is pretty common. Several women on the board has gotten a positive for that reason. :(

cysts can do this as well. I would as to visit your doc again this way he can figure out why your getting these types of cysts. The type of cysts that cause a hcg in your system can cause symptoms as well. These cysts need to be watched to make sure they go down and hcg goes down.

feel better.

thank you very much everyone! I am seeing the consultant on Friday so fingers x'd they can sort me and my fat tummy/pain out!
