Hello everyone
I would be very grateful if someone could offer advice please as I have been searching the internet and cannot find any info.
I am 27 weeks pregnant with non identical twins. I had my 20 weeks scan at 19 weeks and it was discovered that one of the babies long bones were measuring 3 weeks behind the other. The consultant at the hospital bluntly told my husband and I that the baby would be a dwarf and he was unsure if it was even going to survive. We were referred to the nearest specialist Fetal Medicine Specialists 5 days later and the consultant who scanned us did acknowledge that one baby was smaller than the other but he didn't believe it was dwarfism - he believed it was more likely to be discordant growth. We had to reeturn in a further 4 weeks and we saw a different consultant who decided it could be dwarfism or it could be a smaller baby as all long bones and abdominal circ were measuring about 2.5 weeks to 3 weeks behind. We returned to the hospital who originally diagnosed dwarfism last week and now they have thrown the possibility of Downs Syndrom into the mix even though the Fetal Medicine Consultant said he didn't believe this was a possibility. As of last Thursday one baby weighed 2.2lb and the other 1.14 lb - has anyone else had a similar experience or could possibly offer advice as I am unable to think of anything else at the minute and it is like hell on earth not knowing what is going on. Thank you in advance.
