Can babies ever just 'grow out' of 'bad' sleeping habits?

Such as rocking, jigging, nursing, co-sleeping etc? Does there come a point when they just start sleeping by themselves or do they really need to be retrained? Any positive stories out there?

That's it really....:flower:

(p.s. I know none of the above are actually 'bad' I just use it in terms of this is the ONLY way your baby will sleep etc)

Mine suddenly outgrew them at 11-12 months, it was like overnight. I firmly believe they will outgrow when ready - their "ready" just isn't early enough for some people :) But it was fine for me.

i co slept with my first and held him all the time. he decided at 5 months he didnt want to sleep with me anymore :( so he went into his cot. he stopped using a dummy himself at 8 months. he still goes to bed with a bottle tho so ile be stopping that soon, thats the only thing he hasnt grown out of yet lol

im co sleeping again with my second and im worried he wont be as easy as zane tho

i co sleep and Arianna slep in her crib forthe first time 3 days ago didnt cry fell right to sleep she wakes up at 4am usually then i take her to bed with me till about 8 am i miss her at night but glad she gets to sproll around in her crib lol everyone told me dont with the baby cause bad habits but it didnt in my case i love being next to her she takes up the whole bed haha!

LOL that reminds me the first time he started to sleep without me or want milk in the night (didn't last long... lol), I actually missed my night snuggles  I spent over a year wanting them to go away and when they did, I felt useless!

Thanks ladies.

Although we are mostly FF now, I am still nursing DD to sleep during the day as she just will not go to sleep any other way (and sometimes when she wakes in the night and can't get back off) and she falls asleep on the bottle at bedtime....I am scared when the day comes that I 'have' to put her in the cot awake and let her figure it out.....and also that I have to go back to work when she is 11 months old and I can't see her daycare providers doing what I do LOL

zane sleeps with a bottle n he went to nursery when he was 8 months and they would give him a bottle to go sleep with:thumbup:

Bethan's just outgrown it the last week; all babies do things at different rates, I think.
