I'm just starting to wonder if cats can sense when labor is near? The reason I ask is because I've noticed over the past several days that my little one, Ninja, won't leave my side. This is somewhat unusual for her as she usually likes to do her own thing and will come visit only when she feels like it. She's a bit of a diva!! Anyway, all day yesterday she was by my side, would follow me around the house and slept in my bed all night. I've read that cats and dogs can sense pregnancy hormones and I remember when I was very early in this pregnancy, my cat would sometimes lick my belly. What do you gals think? I think it's very cute that she seems so protective of me but to be honest it's starting to get a little annoying.

I'm sure they probably can. My cats however, are oblivious to most things that don't involve eating, sleeping, playing or demanding pets. :haha:

Not sure hun. My cat's behaviour hasn't changed at all lately, he's as lazy as ever x

My cats definitely sensed something was different when I got pregnant. My white cat lays on me more often now and he will rub his head up against my belly and lick it...it's pretty cute. I noticed the last couple days they have been off a bit but I think for me here it's weather related (my cats go crazy when it rains or there is a full moon lol) but I assume they can sense when labour is approaching...could be having all the baby stuff around as well...they know something is different and something is about to change for them.

Someone else asked a similar thing a while back as their cat all of a sudden started being really clingy...never did see the outcome but I do think cats sense things that we don't so it wouldn't surprise me.

Can't imagine my male Cat Samson sensing anything with me, he's so dopey...he's constantly falling over...and you know how they are always supposed to land on their feet well he doesn't!

Sounds exactly like my two!

speaking of pets my dogs gone completeley weird on my :haha: he sits on the chair oppisite and just stairs at me, hes turned into a right pervo i think  i think he senses something Xx

I don't know for sure, but I'm really positive they'd be able to. My cat likes to sit in the garden, just watching bugs and flies and things. 10 minutes before it starts to rain, he walks inside and sits at the door waiting. Then when it stops, goes back outside. Also from being 6 weeks pregnant he likes to sleep against my tummy. Like it's warmer there or something... before that he never ever would even jump on our laps!! So I think for sure they can!! :) xx

my cats actually being nice to me  so i think she can sense something! lol x

my female cat wouldn't leave me alone early in pregnancy, and just the last week or so she's started acting very clingy and weeing all over the place (very annoying!) so I wonder if she can sense things changing. our male cat is not fussed!

This is wierd, my cat was following me around all morning until I made her go outside in the sunshine. She never usually does this and is completely my OHs cat in terms of favourites. She came and lay on the coffee table right next to me for a while too when she nornally uses it as a step to get up onto the sofa. Ooooh, here is hoping its an imminent sign!
