can my gp deal with my hypothyroidism during my preg or does it have to be dealt with by the fetal meds consultant at the hospital?

theres no reason why your gp can't look after your thyroid treatment, Im 15 weeks preg and my gp is monitoring my thyroid for me..ideally your thyroid should be checked every month and your TSH is best kept under 2.

You should be automatically assigned a consultant for it but you can say you would rather stick with gp & it should be fine. You just phone the consultant for an appointment if need be. Doctors are a general thing, where as the consultant will know more how it would affect you during pregnancy thats all .

So long as you are tested during pregnancy & medication adjusted if need be then no problem the doc can do this.

Agree with everyone else. Its up to you.... BUT With my insurance, my OB becomes my Primary Care doctor during pregnancy, so I am to call her for EVERYTHING from a cold to thyroid issues... everything. If she can't deal with whatever it is from some reason, she sends me to a specialist or whoever can deal with it... I LOVE that because she is so much better than my regular doctor anyways!
