Hi, am wanting to cook OH a nice meal this eve and was gonna attempt beef wellington but then i remembered we arent supposed to have pate but wasnt sure if it will be ok as it is cooked?? what do you think? thanks xxx

I thought the main problem with pate was because its often made with liver ..... let me go look it up.....

Not found anything useful about beef wellington, this is why pate in generally isn't recommended:

It is recommended that you avoid eating any sort of pâté, including vegetable pâté. There are two reasons for this.

First, all forms of pâté, including those made from vegetables or fish, may contain higher levels of listeria bacteria than other foods. Pregnant women are much more susceptible to listeriosis, food poisoning caused by eating food contaminated with these bacteria.

Listeriosis is rare, but it can make you feel very unwell and can be dangerous for your baby. It can cause miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth. If a woman develops listeriosis during the last few weeks of pregnancy, her baby may be very ill.

Second, if the pâté is made from liver, you should avoid it in pregnancy, because liver contains too much of the retinol (animal-based) form of vitamin A, which can be harmful to your developing baby.

Let me keep looking...

I'm wondering if you cooked it using Mushroom pate maybe the cooking would kill off any listeriosis?

Personally thou, I'd probably suggest cooking something different, as he's also not be able to leave the meat pink (which is should be in a beef wellington) and it seems a bit of a pity to not be able to enjoy it properly. Is there something else special you could cook instead?
