Can I get your opinion?

Hiya

I've heard all kinds of negative stories about internet cheapies. However, I had a cbm and the internet cheapies always showed a surge at the same time as the cbm. The only added extra was that the cbm sometimes warned me when the surge was coming as it tells you when you have higher estrogen. x

I was told to use Clear Blue that aren't digital, the one with 2 lines, by my fertility specialist. She says they've produced the best timing for IUI thus far :D I go with what they say, lol! :) Luck, hunny!

My FS suggested only using one so you don't confuse yourself if one is + and one is -. They said the ClearBlue non digi you buy at the store works best. Fingers crossed! Lol :D

How much difference do you think it makes getting a Clear Blue Fertility monitor over cheapy ovulation predictor kits that I bought online? Haven't been using OPK's long- first month actually- and the one I have DID pick up the surge I believe... I was curious though if it would be worth investing bigger bucks to get one- is it more reliable/accurate?

The reason I ask is because DH and I are going to be doing IUI next month and timing is so critical.. just wondering if there truly is a difference and if it's worth the splurge- especially in our situation. Thanks for any opinions/recommendations!

Why don't they pinpoint ovulation with an Ultrasound, may be trans-vaginal?In fact you can know the size of the ovum, whether it is about to pop(it shows shaggy borders then) and also if you've successfully ovulated.

Thats what they did with my IUI's. I didnt use any OPK. I did ultrasounds and the trigger shot so they KNEW when I acually ovulated.
Are you doing this Hollyw79??

No~ I am not ~ my doc (I am still with an OB/GYN who is a fertility specialist) just said do the Clomid and then the IUI ... I am cringing almost hearing about all of these other options. :( It's a little too late this month for that... I am cycle day 8 and just waiting to get the positive OPK. (SIGH) Maybe I will see - FX'd- that if it doesn't work- praying it does- but that I suggest that.

Hey now, dont get down and out! :flower:
OPK still tells you when you ovulate! Are you going in for the IUI right after you get a + OPK or how many days later? Just :sex: all the time!

If it doesnt work out, you need to express you concern about 'guessing' ovulation. Don't forget, YOU are the patient.

Yeah I only did OPKs, but I did no meds whatsoever. My clinic is always really busy, but they have good success rates using just OPKs, so I figure they don't want the extra cost of ultrasounds if it isn't needed.

SO true RayeAnne.. thanks :hugs:

My doc said to go in the day after I get the positive.. I am not sure how I feel about that though.. last month I had a positive OPK in the am and a negative that same night- can pass quickly! I am almost afraid to wait until the next day.. but I know you don't want to go too early too. Which would you do?? I read that washed sperm doesn't survive as long... so it makes the timing even more crucial.

Definitely going to BD as much as possible... starting today honestly after reading some people have ovulated as early as day 9 on clomid.

You are soooo right... I am the patient.. thanks for the reminder!!! :)

I think it has to do with the 'surge' that the OPK catches, if im correct? I don't see you ovulating that quickly and being done. Its honestly such a hard decision. I feel like I would tell you to do both haha
My FS has me do an ultrasound, and going off the ultrasound results he then tells me the day to give myself the trigger shot. Then I come in the next day. So I think you would be ok with going in the next day. You dont want to go in too early. Like you said, washed sperm doesnt last as long.
Honestly though, I would be making sure I get an ultrasound done before you OV so it's not so blind. And if they dont offer it, go somewhere else? Hate to say it, but its 99% timing!

I am glad you have the option, and feel that you should for sure do whatever you can to make sure you get that bfp. :hugs:

My fertility clinic is the only one in town, so I am kinda stuck. Thinking we're going to try at home insem with warm donor sperm for a bit... Go to a meeting tonight with my friend and his wife about it.

Yup, she came full force. I sure hope that it works for us :) and I still have my appointment at the end of February.

hi there,

I use both cbfm and ic, my cbfm is always right, where as the cheapies dont always pick it up, i do a clearblue digi just to confirm the first month but it was the best money i ever spent
