Can i pop my nose in and ask for some advice please?

There are so many things you can do! You can breast feed at home, formula feed out and about, if that's really the one thing that is bugging you.
I am breast feeding my newest little guy, but my daughter is formula fed, and I have zero regrets about that. One of the biggest reasons I'm breast feeding right now is cost, if I am being honest here.
I will say though, you need to give BFing a good weeks chance, the first few days are really tough, but if you can get going, its SO much easier than bottles.
You need to do what is right for you, there are some really militant breastfeeder's out there, don't let them tell you what to do, as you have to live with the results.
And your child will be just fine on formula, if that's what you decide to do.

I BF and expressed for a week, not much in comparison to some but I was happy that I tried. I thought I'd give BF a go and I did, I fed her for one whole day BF and then had a bit of a mis-hap whilst staying in the hosp so they let me have some ready made milk to feed her after she had been up half the night hungry. When we came home I FF her and then when I could expressed a little and gave her that too. Now she is soley on FF as my milk supply has dried up.

A lot of people have said a happy baby = a happy mummy and it is so true! Just don't feel any pressure off of anyone and do what you feel is best.

My main advice is read up as much on both methods, like for some reason nipple shields bypassed me until it was much too late! Also for FF it was 'how to best make up and store a feed'!

Thanks for all your help ladies, it's very much appreciated.

I think i am going to try BF but i will buy some forumla just in case it's not going well, ie, she's not getting enough milk etc

I may end up doing half/half, we shall see. At least i can say i'll definitely be having a go at it :)
