Can I still get maternity allowance if I quit my job ??

Hi.

I am currently working full time I believe the length of time I have worked entitles me to maternity allowance (defo won't get SMP). However my sister, who I live with, is moving house and i will go with her as I can't afford my own place , this will be too far for me to commute from so I will have to quit my job. i will be around 27 weeks pregnant when this happens. Was wandering if I hand my notice at work, will this effect my claim for maternity allowance?

I am very confused and worried about this... would really appreciate your help.

You will need to have worked at least 26 weeks out of the 66 weeks up to and including the week before the week the baby is due. So it depends on how long you were working for before you quit.
