Can I take Benadryl for itchy skin?

I never had this with my first pregnancy but I got bit by sand fleas on the beach and my feet are so itchy. I'm using .5 hydrocortisone cream that I know is safe and it helps for a few minutes but I need extended relieve (especially at night).
Has anyone taking Benadryl while pregnant before? I would just call my doc but their office is closed today. Thanks!

I took it my entire first trimester per my OBs advice. Only thing you don't want to do is take it late in the first trimester as it, like any antihistamine, could potentially affect milk supply.

In the UK Benadryl is a catagory b medicine which means it's not expected to cause damage to an unborn baby but pharmacists suggest speaking to a doctor before taking it. I know doctors do prescribe it in pregnancy though, there's a few ladies on here taking it.

Oh sorry I meant third tri. Taking it late in the third trimester can affect milk supply.
