This afternoon I pushed a heavy box full of books (with my legs and arms mind you) and am worried I am going to have a miscarriage. Help! I'm not spotting or bleeding and it's been an hour or so since I did it.

I'm not sure babe, but I'm sure if you did any damage you would probably be feeling some pain by now. I know that lifting heavy things is a no no so it's probably best you pushed it!

The thing is I'm not really feeling any pain. I have the normal pre menstral like cramps any woman has early on in pregnancy. I'm not bleeding and it's been 3 hours at least since I moved the box. I'm pretty sure I didn't do any real damage. I just won't ever do it again. I hear mixed responses on this topic. I'm seeing my doctor in the morning for my first round of confirmatory blood work so I will ask her then. I have not spotted or bled at all and I'm 5 weeks along. I'm just NEVER EVER going to do it again.

I did anything and everything when I was pregnant and I have a healthy 9 week old daughter

I helped lift and move a 3 seater very heavy sofa when I was 6 weeks pregnant with my second, and he's a healthy 3 year old.

Don't overdo things and try not to move, lift, push etc heavy things too often. If it hurts to do that's your body's warning signal to stop. I'm sure everything will be fine hun x

I just jump dwn frm the sofa this a.m ... :(
now feeling slight strain... shd i be on bed rest .. or monitor

Happy you say you JUMPED down from a sofa? I seriously doubt that did anything. You're fine :)

AmyNicole,
I think you'll be OK. :-) I had a very physically demanding job (lifting 40lbs of chemicals up and down a ladder all day long) the first time I was pregnant. Because the company was sort of anti-preggies I didn't tell anyone until I was showing. Lifting things never caused any damage. Your body will tell you if you're doing too much... my philosophy is that if you did it before you were pregnant (physical activity), it'll be fine to do it now.

i was told its fine to do lifting (i lift 2 year olds daily) but the danger isnt to the baby, its too yourself as all your ligaments are softening and more prone to tearing x

exactly. baby is very well protected its you you need to worry about!
