As the title says really. DS started throwing up large amounts of his bottle about three weeks ago, we swapped his formula to comfort which has helped but he is still throwing up about 1.5oz pretty quickly after finishing then there is almost constant spit up for at least 1.5 hours. Spoke to the HVs at the weighing clinic and they suggested reflux or lactose intolerance due to the fact that hungry milk is thicker than comfort but he still tolerated the comfort better.
Our sons donor is coeliac which I know is often hereditary but also extremely dairy intolerant since a young age but not sure if that is something that could be passed on.
DS is gaining weight at a just about acceptable rate but has dropped from 70th to 25th percentile despite being another 75th percentile for height so he can't really afford to be throwing up half his feeds.

We have a Dr appt. tomorrow but does anyone have any insight or advice? Especially advice on how I can put him down to bed after a night feed and not worry about him choking on sick.

I realise this is too late and you will of had your appointment by now but id say reflux would have reared its ugly head before now as its caused by the valve at the top of the tummy (i think thats where it is) not being fully developed and sick/bile being able to come back up.
Obviously im no dr tho :flower: hope your appointment went ok and you have some answers x

Our daughters didnt start til 8 weeks corrected - so that was about 20 weeks old! Normally though, it starts before 3 months, but its not to say its impossible as you can see

Thanks, the Dr seems to think it is reflux but is confused as to why he is sick more on the thicker hungry milk than comfort. He has prescribed infant gaviscon but if he's no better in two weeks he's going to refer us to the hospital as DS hasn't put on any weight since he was last weighed. So far the gaviscon has made a slight difference so I hope it just needs some time to work. Am just glad DS isn't bothered in the slightest and smiles through it all.

My ds reflux started at 4 months! I was surprised as my dd had it too but hers was from the offset. I wondered if it was us giving him larger quantities of milk that showed it up, if that makes sense? His tummy could tolerate less but a bigger amount and it came back up. Gaviscon worked a treat anyway so hopefully will for you too x
