Chart properly, and what I'm meant to look out for? I just bought a ovulation thermometer today.
Please help!

Test everyday at the same time make sure to get at least 3hrs of proper sleep. Now to interpret the charts or the temps no clue there. Sorry.

I use kindara. It is much less overwhelming when first starting out!
I was always told 4 hours of sleep before. I'm sure an hour won't make too much of a difference.
As soon as your alarm goes off grab the thermometer and put it in your mouth or vaginally (whatever floats your boat lol) but if you start with one method don't change it it will affect your chart. Anyway, try to do it with moving as little as possible.

That's the only tips I an think of right now. I just started a month and a half ago so I'm still working out how to chart best for me :D
I hope I helped!!

What lovee said is exactly what I did too

I did laugh at the don't swap methods paragraph, good sensible advise, but there is another good reason not to swap from using you thermometer vaginally to orally! Lol! X

Lol thanks girls, I've got the FF app. And I'm downloading the kindara app now lol.
I'm going to temp orally :haha:

I used Kindara for several months (the design is prettier) and then switched to Fertility Friend. I had read people talking about it like it was their ttc guru and I didn't really understand how it was different than Kindara. But once I had used FF for two months, it started marking the day it thinks I ovulated, which was always different that what I thought since I'm a "slow-riser" and in Kindara you self-select when you've had your temp spike. I still use Kindara but I learned from FF that my LP is 13 days, pretty much without exception. It has really helped me to know better when I can test because if my LP is 13 days and it's day 14, chances are good I'll test positive! (It hasn't happened yet, but you know what I mean!)

Anyway, of course use what you're comfortable with, but I just thought you'd like to know how the two apps compare - in my book anyway.

Lol!!! Yes totally not pleasant if you were to switch from vaginally to orally!!

another tip if you are temping orally, if you sleep with your mouth open sometimes this can cause a difference, also try to put the thermometer of the same side of your mouth (though under tongue is best) and also don't open your mouth until you put the thermometer in, so not talking when you wake up and struggle for your bbt :)

Best of luck to all the tempers out there...my sleep is light and eratic so I cannot temp, but have learned lots from FF, these boards and from reading Taking Control of Your Fertility (excellent read)

Your siggy says your dh's sperm is perfect. What made you decide he needed to get tested and how did you go about doing it? I'm thinking about getting DH tested so that way if its his spermie that are keeping us from getting pregnant then I don't want to keep wasting precious time thinking its me lol

We went to a fertility specialist because we were trying for about 9 months and my cycles are completely whack...anyway...it is standard practice to have a sperm analysis done when working with any fertility specialist...they need to know what they are dealing with before coming up with an effective conception plan, in fact MANY specialist will not work on treatment if the sperm partner refuses to be tested...I am in Canada and the standard SA is covered...if it was borderline and they had to do a more advanced testing it would have cost about $300...we are still working on my diagnosis unfortunately...

I'm in the US, my OBGYN gave me an order for SA and we called and made an appt. Very simple deal. It was not covered by our insurance but it was under $200.

Yeah I don't think a regular SA should be too expensive, it's the secondary ones that can be worse...it's so different here since most of the preliminary tests are covered, but not much else...nothing to do with insurance...I don't know anyone who's insurance in Canada helps much with fertility..unless you are in Quebec, where they cover IVF!

I will call my PCM tomorrow and see if he will order me a SA for the hubby. Or have my hubby order his own lol

Ivf! How lovely for those hopeful mommys!

Thanks for sharing your SA experiences!

I hope you figure out what's going on with your cycles soon! :hugs:

Yeah I used to live like 15 minutes from the border to QC and DH was actually living in QC when we first started dating....if only we knew back then what we know now...now we live 6 hours away and the idea of living on QC side is daunting just for that, plus FS says IVF is not a good option for me...anywho...Good Luck to all those hopeful mommas :)

Thanks girls I'm going to use both lol!
So when you ovulate does your temp dip or rise?

So when you ovulate does your temp dip or rise?

Typically the day OF ovulation there's a dip. But when your temp rises at least .4 degrees and stays up it means you just ovulated. That's why temping alone won't necessarily help; opk's can predict when o is about to happen and temping confirms it did.

That's another helpful thing about FF- when you sign up they email you little lessons every day about temping and the scientific/chemical explanations for the temps going up and down.

Thanks you.
I did OPKs for a few mths and they just became too stressful. I want to get the smiley face ones but they are too expensive in Australia so I thought I'd give temping ago but have no idea what I'm doing lol!

I didn't really either, you will learn over time!
