can we eat paste?

    i was just wondering if we can eat paste as in the chicken pastes you get in the little jars and use in sandwiches? x

    big no no hun. it could have listeria or that other bacteria in it. these cause food poisoning.

    Thought it was only things with pasteurised contents/eggs we have to avoid? Like home made mayonaise.

    I asked my midwife this last week and she said its fine, Patea(sp?) or what ever its called is a big no because of whats in it but paste chicken and ham, sardine and tomatoe etc is fine

    you can eat sandwhich fillings but try to make sure they are nice and fresh and have been kept cool, cant eat pate' though

    Yes you can :) Im addicted to pate and obviously cant eat it while pregnant so these little jars of paste have become my substitute :) x

    I see no reason why not because it's fully cooked and then sealed in a jar. I've eaten it without any problems but it's what you feel comfy with x

    i would personally pick the fresh made fillers though rather than the premade jars which arent nessacarily always cool stored before you buy them and defo keep that stuff in the fridge

    thanks everyone i think ill give it a miss. soo sick of cheese blumming sandwiches though, had my limit of tuna this week and cannot think of anything to have in my sarnies :( x

    Ooo what Id give to have pate on toast right now!!! Im going to have to take some in my hospital bag when I go into labour I think, as soon as babys out Im having some!!

    If it's the paste i'm thinking of, it's more than likely safe, I'm not sure there's anything "real" in them.

    I think most of us in the US got a bit of a chuckle out of talk of eating "paste." Ha!
